One job i've been meaning to do on the new T2 was clean the mini filter that's in the banjo bolt & as it's been a nice day I thought i'd get it done. On my last T2 the banjo bolt came out no probs but not on this one:doh Started undoing the banjo bolt & noticed the steel fuel pipe to the pump moving so just put a screwdriver in to stop it & carried on but then I noticed it wasn't the banjo bolt screwing out but the fixing it go's into which is screwed into the pump as it was all trying to come out in one bit:eek::eek::eek: I quickly tightened it all back down again & had a closer look. The fixing is hex shape so was able to get a 17mm spanner onto it & then was able to remove the banjo bolt. Made sure the fixing was tightened down into the pump well before refitting the banjo bolt but thought i'd mention it incase it happened to someone else:doh So far it doesn't look as if i've caused any leaks thank god:bow Truck seems to be running a bit better now as the filter was a little dirty

phew, lucky!!

I might look at mine - no idea at all if it has one!

Glad I noticed it when I did as the fixing was almost out:doh. The old TD's had the mini filter in the pump but the TDI's seemed to have had this replaced with one inside the banjo bolt. Had one fitted on my 1999 twin headlight model in the banjo but wondered if Nissan had kept fitting them on the later models which looks to be the case as mines a late 2005. Will prob clean it again in another 40K so that'll be in about 6 years time then:lol

close call, what does this mini filter do? and it it removable? :nenau

It's just a secondary filter made up from mesh & brass, I removed the one on my last T2 as I couldn't get it as clean as I wanted & damaged it trying to get it out so drilled it out but you've got to be very careful you don't leave any swarf in the bolt as that will kill your pump

only if you drill it out obviously?

surely then most terranos with this must be bloody manky!

it does make you think - if most have it, then its well worth cleaning because the end results should be significant. Cant wait to do mine now, not that mine feels sluggish or anything..!

Yes I took the extreme measure & drilled it out & then spent 1/2 hour flushing the bolt to make sure there was now swarf left but also flushed as I drilled. Mine has cover 56K now & the filter mesh was almost black but after cleaning it with carb cleaner & made sure it was bone dry before refitting it the mesh was nice & silver again & you could just make out the gaps in the mesh:thumb2 Throttle response seems better & it's reving loads better now:D If you don't have one fitted you'll be able to see straight through the holes in the banjo bolt but if you can't you got the filter & you'll also notice a brass ring on the end of the bolt
