For the keys, why don't you try polygrip...:lol:lol:lol

Not really high spec now 4mB Ram...:lol

Max budget, could be a limiting factor, do you need a cd/DVD drive?
I have a small Acer net book, and running Windows 7 Starter, and a seperate cd reader, but it is slow compared to a good lap top.

I tend to use the iPad for most things while out and about, but not ideal for data transfer, storage etc. so you still need a desk top or netbook, or a lap top.
Sorry can't recommend a model.

not bad for 6 yr old tho

That's the problem, as soon as they release the model, they have the next version at the start of the production line. So they are virtually obsolete before the warrenty runs out. OR even sooner.:doh

Advice on a lappy? Here goes:

In my experience the minimum tip is a fiver down the thong, don't give the poor girl coins or they play havoc in all the wrong places (it's only called a money box! :thumb2) and remember "lookie but no touchie"

Or have I got the wrong kind of lappy? :augie

let me have a look at work Peter. WE also have quite a lot of "refurb" laptops in, these come form big companies like Asda, Vodafone etc and might be rejects from customers, or end of line thats sort of thing, and often we have very decent ones pretty cheap. As an example, I recently secured 4 SFF Desktop PCs with Intel Quad Core cpu, 4gb etc for £150 each. Laptop wise I just secured 2 brand new "A1" condition laptops for £250, dual core 4gb ram windows 7. Anyway, Ill take a look for you and come up with some ideas.

as for your keyboard, why dont you just buy a new one? Let me know the make and model (i forgot) and ill see if we have any in stock. Your right about your laptop, it IS a good spec TBH, so its well worth at least fixing so you can flog it on.

Sorry I didnt ring back, I got home then had to go back out, and now all I want to do is mong out with a brew. I will try ring you tomorrow though when I get back from a clients....!:thumbs
