Just back from reci'ing two of the lanes that are just on the border, first one was "The Street" NT 7790 1920,only got to the fourth gate as it was far to boggy. Will definitely be doing this one when the weather is better, goes right over the border to NT 8590 1150.
The second lane was "Dere Street" NT 7554 1436.I started at the end the lane! but didn't get very far as this to was to boggy as well, didn't want to churn the lane up and more importantly, didn't want to get stuck!!
I'm going to look at the "Tushie Law" NT 2407 2053 lane tomorrow but what I've heard of this lane,it should be nothing!

I was but with being on my own and no mobile signal, not a good idea, might have got around it,but still had to get through the gate and i know the farmer would kick up a stink,if i churned the track up!! :? so best to leave it till a better day..

What a great place to live near!.

Where we are it is so flat you can see the sea nearly and we are 20 miles inland.
All i want is somewhere to go and play!.

It would be brilliant to have a meet up here but there are only a handful of lanes of which they are far apart from each other, there are two very long lanes that cross the border, one of which was the one i started out on!.
There are more over the border in Northumberland(Sweety territory!)
Me and Sweety have talked about this,so you never know!

As I said Cosmic when you want to have a shot at them lanes give me a shout we'll be up to play aswell & you can pull me out when I get stuck
The sad thing about the lanes in North Northumberland is that they are so far apart & very short

I knew i wasn't going to get very far today, just wanted to reci as far as was sensible to do! when the weather gets better Sweety, your on!!As long as D does some baking!!

No, I haven't driven either of them.

"Clennel Street" (NT8518-7a) and "The Street" (NT7719-6a) on the England side are shown in both version of Wayfinder and on OS Landranger mapping in Memory Map as bridleways - so, unless someone knows different, they will have been NERC'd into oblivion.

Sorry ..........

Cheers Andrewk,i'm still trying to catch up with all there names,Nerc bill does that mean all that are marked bridleway are off limits?

Part 6 of the 2006 Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act (NERC) extinguished any vehicular rights that might exist on all ways that are recorded on Definitive Maps as footpath, bridleway or RUPP/Restricted Byway.

There are a number of exemptions, but you've got to do some work to prove the exemption. One is that vehicular rights are preserved if you can prove that motor vehicles were the main users for a 5 year period prior to NERC becoming active. You might have seen my post about collecting user evidence for High Rake - that's what that is all about.

You can read up about NERC itself here:
http://www.defra.gov.uk/rural/ruraldelivery/bill/

The implications are on the GLASS website here:
http://www.glass-uk.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=199&Itemid=859

and on the LARA website here:
http://www.laragb.org/pages/nerc.html

That should keep you all busy for a while .........

Cheers
Andrew
