I see Lada are importing the 4x4 niva back into the uk, Just under £10,000, comes with a 1.7 pertol engine and a lpg conversion, no abs and 0-60 in 17.5 seconds. mmm sounds tempting:naughty

If enough of us buy them we could start the" Lada 4x4 owners club" and have sections on- bump starting, how too push a niva, best breakdown organisations etc:augieWell done Lada you've put a smile back on my face:rolleyes::clap

my old man had about 4 lada estates and swore by em,built like tanks and loadsa room in engine bay for a 2.7td lump!

A 2.7 td lump would make them very interesting:naughty:naughty

No but strangly when i was 16/17 and taking an interst in cars i did quite fancy one at the time:thumbs

dad had the riva 1500 5spd est no less lol he was going to look at the 4x4 niva cossack but think emmisions killed em off in our country.
his old estate had tonnes room under bonnet easily fit a big diesel in,i nearly had him convinced to let me stick a DI in it at one stage lol

they were/are excellent off road, but very uneconomical and very 'agricultural' to drive.

top gear had one, wasnt it at an old air force base? 10k with lpg cheap tax, congestion charge i can see a few apearing! maybe bat should claim the domain names quick lol!

Cossack!!!!, been racking my brains as to what they were called, obvious now isnit:doh

I have had 2 Niva's !!!! Both a horrid beige colour :D quite slow and very agricultural but did come with a starting handle so no worries about flat batteries !!! Add a decent webber carb and electronic ignition and jobs a 'good un'. Rust was terrible but you only needed a hammer and spanners to fix it and I think every spare I ever got was £15, no matter what (from brakes to a starter moter) !!! I loved it but it was a 4x4 and bloody brilliant in the snow :rolleyes::rolleyes:

There's a 4x4 enthusiast in north wales who has a left hand drive Lada, pulled many a land rover out of the mud too........ has a stuffed panda in the passenger seat tho :) ............. cracking bloke, you'll often see him out and about.........

When my daughter first went to Spain she needed a cheap 4x4 (she lives up a mountain track) and a Lada Cossack came up, dirt cheap, dead reliable, she loved it. Used it for two years or so through floods and mud with no maintenance. As it was dark green she and her husband painted it camo, only changed it when so many bits had dropped off, it wasn't worth repairing (their track sees off most cars in months!)
