I've often thought it would be great to stick a T2 engine into a L**d R***r but possibly even easier just to rebody the T2 chassis with a LR.....I wonder what difference the 3" or so in extra wheelbase would make...could you hide it or cut something out?

i nearly bought a disco with a straight six 3.2 trol engine in it overheated quickly though they swapped it out for isuzu 2.8td before i could get the conversion plate theyd weighed enginge in!

I want a engine-less defender 90 to put put the running gear off dirty frog in :sly :naughty :thumbs :augie

In My Opinion

The best 4x4 chassis & the best diesel lump :D

Go for it :thumbs

Ya might have to loose or gain a few inchs on the chassis but thats not a hard job :thumbs

:clap

Now I'm gonna pick you up there Adz...I mean we aren't talking racing cars here are we, so what the hell makes one 4x4 chassis any better than the next one? I'm sure a bare T2 chassis has pretty much the same overhang/approach/departure as a Landy...its just the extra bodywork on the T2 that lets it down a weeny bit on really lumpy stuff. I mean in a straightforward road race, the Landy would be on its roof in three minutes against a T2....either that or several miles behind.:lol

And by keeping the rolling chassis you get to keep all the benefits of the T2 including LSD, comfy seats, aircon, yadda yadda yadda...just a simple bit of bodywork instead of all that replumbing....:thumb2

Both right from different angles :thumbs
I got carried away on what i would like to do :doh :thumbs
I think the 90 / 110 chassis has a bit more of a lift front & rear for the body clearing wheel articulation
They seem to have more of an angle than others all bar pick-ups :nenau

Anyway :lol back on topic :augie

Are you thinking serious about doing it or just pondering

I'm guessing you want the room & comfort from the disco :thumbs

all you gota remember about a rover land is where there built " birmingham" and then think friday afternoon ! roll on india build quality will come on leaps an bounds lol!

We were talking Land Rovers Terence, not GayBarges which still drive like a frickin boat.....I bet I could outdo one any day...:naughty

A TD5 NOT 200 or 300 will pi55 all over us  :( Fact

there is no way a t2 will beat a td5 in a race, i have had two t2's and yes they are quick, but not as quick as my td5, i admit the 200-300 wont stay with a t2 but the td5 is another animal mate, my missus hated the earlier l/r's we had but this one, well she wants to take it out and give it a good thrashing, she cant believe the difference, i wouldn't mind a thrashing now and again lol. se you at brands hatch :lol

3ltr will destroy a 2.7tdi on aceleration no turbo lag on mine maybe coz no intercooler sapping presure! gets bit wheezy at 95-100mph
