hi guys, it was sat afternoon my n/s/f suddenly blew out on my way home luckily i was only couple mile away from home, the next morn i desperatly needed a tyre place & all i could find on a sunday was kwik fit certainly not at the top of my list when it comes to prices but i had to bite the bullet & go for it. the guy said he had 1 tyre instock then said its £122.00 fitted :doh jesus i expected control arms & suspension in with that price but gulp ! i paid it:bow, i glanced at my receipt once home to find there,s a £1.50 charge for blowing the bloody tyre up:( what next £3.00 to exit the car park.... just hope all the chain collapses

Kwik Fit have their place but not for most things and often I find their work not up to my standards but then again I find that with lots of things in life that people don't deliver the service that I feel is correct. Got a local independant tyre fitter close to me and I just go straight to him with both vehicles for tyres, brakes or batteries. They have got used to me and the wife after using them for several years and theres trust both way's. They are happy to deliver a car off to my wifes work and let me call in on way home from work to pay.

I also hate paying for Air at a garage when you've just filled up with fuel. Got my self an electric pump in each car so don't them that service now.

It does stick in your throat when you have to go somewhere due to time constraints.

Atleast you are sorted and on your way safely.

yeah i know what you mean jim i spent 16yrs in the tyre trade learned from sratch ,i finished up running a large depot doing brakes, mot, tyres, exhausts we had local friends we used to help out & trust over the years , our prices had to be competative , most of todays fitters use bonus selling technique free alignment checks ,free shocker & brake check they tried it with me seen it had the T shirt! i dont fall for it . :doh i pity the inercent motorist as for me they lack training abillity & value for money

bad luck mate, I had a similar situation last week with my front tyre needing re sealing. I had Charlie Browns in mind, I believe they have some link to Kwik Fit, but thats another story ;)

I found a local tyre fitting crew, did me the re seal etc for £7, so I gave them the £10 for being nice and not messing about.

if that had been Charlie Browns, or Kwik Fit, it would have been AT LEAST £25, and thats IF they ONLY did what I asked them to do, i.e. re seal the f*cking tyre, which lets face it, they never do what you ask.

can i join in to moan about kwick fit they wanted to charge £366 to supply and fit an exhaust for my mav, i got Discount tyres in cwmbran, south wales to supply and fit £215 including a tyre repair, cant be bad, although they didnt have the correct brackets, thanks to ebay for that! i knew it would be to hard to change without ramps!

My local tyre and exhaust s/f full system to my 96 £127 and a few pennies.

qwik fit are best for emergency work away from home so that can take it up with
local if any warranty issues.

for tyres round our way i'd suggest dexel, then check out best buy tyres on
the dexel site, better than black circles, for value and work done by dexel
rather than some back street outfit..

my cooper atr were £96 each fitted, even swapped best old one onto my
steel rim spare with new valve and air! for free.

wont go near k*%* fit since they tried to impound my prelude if I didnt buy A tyre off them (threatened to report it to police if I drove off) because tracking had gone to wire but they wanted £475 toreplace the yoko & redo tracking .Wernt happy when my mate turned up & loaded it onto A trailer :sly

thats bad Iain, can they do that?? I dont think they can, can they? as for their costing, hahahahhaaaahahahahaha, it should have been YOU calling the police.

end of the day, that car belongs to you, and as far as I know, in that situation, nobody is in any form of legal contract with the garage, and if they call the police to report a car driving with a faulty drop link or whatever, they are gonna get laughed at and told to stop waisting police time. nob heads.

I wont ever use them, every time I hear of Kwik Fit, its a bad story.

OUCH, that's custom stainless steel big bore exhaust money that is
Kwik Steal more like

I have only ever used kwik fit for a free battery test, free brake check, free health check and free aircon check. Then I always shop around for the parts, get them cheaper and do it myself. Good diagnosis most of the time but only because they have automatic machines doing the work I think. They recently quoted over £300 for rear pads and discs on a Kia Pro Ceed! Bought the lot for pennies over £100. That's a lot of labour money!

I have always had my tyres filled with 80% nitrogen, it gives the cheapest and easily sourced gas you can get for your tyres.
