Put it in this area of the forum as not sure if engine or box lol. When the engine Idleing you can hear a constant knocking from the clutch area when you press the clutch pedal to the floor the knocking goes also pedal is very light to press as well so think the clutch is on it's way out. It's a 2.7 tdi on a v plate

Lay shaft bearings are going in the box or as I call it death rattle:lol you can try adding an extra 1/2 litre of oil to the gearbox (need to jack front up a bit to get it in) which seemed to help my last one as it was rattling when I got it but I added another 40K odd & it was just starting to get a little stiff going into a couple of gears but still drivable> TBH i'd top up the box & keep driving it until it fails then replace the box with a good one

Can the bearings be replaced also are all the bear box the same on the 2.7 as have one that's 3 years older and is good

Yes the new bearings can be changed but if getting someone else to do the job it can be costly I was quoted £1400 to have the box removed, new bearings fitted & refitted but that was quite a few years ago so never bothered but I think it was over priced as he wasn't that keen on doing the job:doh IIRC there was a change in gear ratios from the early ones (TD's) to the later ones (TDI's) If you've got a good box keep it & wait till this one gets worse but that could take a few years

Other terrano I have is a tdi it ran out of mot so not moved it since but had a good engine and box
