Hi All,
I have a strange issue with my key fob.

Basically, the unlock button locks the passenger door and boot (not the drivers door).

The lock button unlocks the passenger door and boot.

So wrong way around (i am pressing the correct button).

The drivers door seems to have a mind of its own - but will sometimes lock (when pressing the lock button) - so the opposite of the others - but won't unlock.

The way i lock the truck at the moment is to lock the drivers door with the key, then press unlock on the fob to lock the others.

The red LED (when all doors locked) flashes about 1 per second.

I've tried re programming the key fob (from the down load section) but can't get to the programming state (i.e. indicators flash twice) - tried load of times.

So questions are;

1 When trying to program the key, do you turn from OFF to the first position then back, or from OFF (past the first) to the second position (i.e. all the light on the dash come on). I've tried both and neither work for me - but just wanted to check in case i try again.

2 Any one else come across this strange type of behaviour? and will re-programming actual help?

Thanks.

First things first

Lets box of that your central locking works correctly.

When you lock the drivers door with the key, what doors lock? No fob involved

OK, so turning the key to unlock (key in the door) = all doors unlock.

Turning the key to lock = only the drivers door locks (the others don't).

So that indicates a central locking issue to me, the keyfob sounds like it's working as it should but is being hindered by a central locking issue

Ok, so now sit in the car and lock the doors from the inside on the drivers side door, what doors lock?

Then carry out the same test and try it with the passengers side door, what doors lock?

Inside the truck

Drivers door lock knob-
Lock = only the drivers door locks
Unlock = all doors unlock

Passenger door lock knob-
Lock and unlock = only the passenger door locks and unlocks

Button to the left of the steering wheel on the dash-
Press lock button = all doors lock.

Don't Know if this helps but this is how mine works :
press unlock button once, drivers door unlocks,
Press again and all other doors unlock,
Press lock and all doors lock,
with just drivers door unlocked press central locking button on dash, all other doors unlock, (If it has this)

Mine is same minus button dash. I have a button next to the window buttons to lock all doors.:thumb2

Mine does seem a bit strange. Looks like i need to take the door card off and have a look to see if anything has come loose as a first step.

do not think you will see anything worthwhile removing the door card, my first thoughts are has the blip been dismantled (perhaps to change the battery) and the buttons reversed, on my 96 the red is at the top black below it but not sure on the later ones, Rick

Good thought, might explain the one door misbehaving perhaps? If buttons are backwards on a circuit?

I have replaced both switches in one of the key fobs (soldered new ones on) and replaced the battery. This is the one i'm trying to use.

Neither key fob had functioning buttons as the bit of plastic on the switches inside were kind of stuck - i still need to do the same on the other key fob.

The switch positions are fixed inside and the circuit board is keyed to only go in one way.

My first thought was to re-program the key fob as i know the drivers door is on a separate circuit, but i can't seem to get into programming mode so second thought was Banshee's suggestion and look at the mechanical aspect of central locking first (as i dont think its working as it should).

However if anyone has programmed their key fob and could confirm if you need to turn the key from OFF to the first position or the second position the six times - that would be great and i could try again.
