All,
What would be the benefits of paying £30+ pounds for one of these?

Are they good?

Pardon my ignorance but i would have thought a air filter is a air filter..

Thanks in Advance

Ian

OOOps in the wrong area but dont know how to change it sorry...

No problem, I have moved it for you.Toolbox

I've got one but got mine 2nd hand put the pro's are that you'll never have to buy another air filter again just give the K&N on a clean every 50K, my emmissions have dropped slightly since my last mot  Throtle responce has inproved vastly which is what I got it for  you may also gain a few extra bhp & torque which is'nt a bad thing

100,000 mile warranty, ie fit and forget.

after that clean and start again.

free flowing, i did reset the ecu by
disconnecting battery overnight to
make most of it.

Oh I just stuck mine in outside the guys house    but did notice a differnce straight away :p

K&N's are great but they don't tell you that you need to re oil after cleaning. You need to buy the oil, its not supplied with the filter. 8O

let me know how you get on Ian,

would love to know if theyare worth getting.

Hi,

I was going to get one for my TD5 Discovery when I had remapped but the chap advised me against it.

When I asked why he said look through it you can see right through it therefore surely dust bits can go straight through it which won't do any good.

He advised me to go for an ITG filter.

The only thing you have to watch out for with any of these oiled filters is that it doesn't screw up you MAF Sensor with oil. Well you had to watch this on the Discovery not sure on the Terrano/Mav.

Been running a K&N induction kit for about 600 miles. The engine definitely revs better. The oil does not seem to have affected the maf which shows no problems and its catching lots of bits. In other words doing its job and sounds good too

Re the "looking through it" comment, I did wonder about that but a very knowledgeable engine tuner laughed and said words to the effect of bollocks. To cut a long explanation very short the oil helps catch the minute swirling particles that may otherwise find their way through.....................and does it at least as well as paper

He also pointed out that you can see through a window but that doesn't mean its permeable.........I left at that point

The Induction Kit completely replaces the filter and housing if i remember?

Do you have any pics?

Also any reason you went for a induction kit rather than just a filter

I'll sort out pics no prob.

Yes It replaces the whole assy and costs a little more.

I was told that whilst the elements are very good , the cones on the induction kits are the next stage on and allow better airflow than the nissan housing plus better element. I dont have any scientific evidence but I can see the logic of that.

Zippy is spot on but I dont intend doing any wading in the car though it will be going off road so water ingress is not a major issue and if I was I'd have to get a snorkel for peace of mind

daved Mind if I as where you got it from??
Paul.

Absolutely no problem.

It was off ebay and the transaction is here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290065080826

I went with him because he had good feedback, best overall cost for the unit & shipping and answered a couple of questions very quickly.

He was very good (fast) and I'd have no hesitation using again or recomending him.
