hi all just picked up a 54 plate navara outlaw today 70kjust wondering a few things about her,
what oil should i use in her as going to service her?
if you give it any power what so ever back end seems to kick out is this normal and get used to it or is there something i need to do lol
it has had a new engine at 30k at nissan, would this of been upgraded do you guys think?
anyother things i need to check thanks for your time will

Best of luck with the new motor.
Don't know much about navara's but the rear wheel drive pick-up I have can be very light at the back and tends to slide around when taking turns especially if touching on the accellerator and the road is damp or wet. Does the navarra have limited slip differential? If so check the fluid levels in rear axle and maybe even change the fluid. The kind of tyres you have on and what condition they are in may also make a difference to rear grip.
More knowledgable folk will surely be along soon to make some suggestions on your other queries.

Hi try here and search for d22 engine

If Nissan have fitted new shells and bolts it should be fine, there is a mod to the oil pump/sump which you might look into.
Billcars did mine(see banner at top of page):thumb2
Tony.
The back kicking out may be your LSD's need there oil changing.

Pop oilman from opie oils a message or have a look at the opie oils website advertised on here should give you some info on correct oils. Lacroupade also had a link on here someplace for a site that gave info on the correct oils to use, thin it was comma oil or something like that. Would guess that 10w40 semi-sinthetic would be suitable for the engine and probably APIGL5 for differential. Others here might have better recommendations though.

thanks for your help i have a few worrries now after reading through the forums:(

force of habit ,i have noticed a small oil leak after moving this morning need to investigate looked clean underneaath when i picked it up ,

Think it might be a bit early for worrying yet. Would have thought that if a new engine was fitted by nissan there is a reasonable chance it would be a good one with the necessary mods done to it. I may be giving nissan dealers too much of the benefit of the doubt but no harm in giving them the benefit of the doubt until you can confirm otherwise. Try sending Billcar engineering a message and see if they can give you any pointers on whether you can tell if the engine is sorted or not--they might be able to tell by the engine number or some other indicator.
I wouldn't be worried about the diff for the moment either. Your truck has 70k on it and there is a good chance the diff oils were never changed so it would be as well to change the oil in that anyway and once it has the proper oil to the proper level then should be fine although you may still find you have to adjust your driving a bit if it is a bit light at the back. I would again mention tyres. I found that the type of tyres and thread depth on the back made a big difference to whether the rear end slides around or not.

well im going to get all of the oils changed asap, the tyres that are on it are some huge scary looking possibly off road tyres sothat may be a cause to they may look good but i think there off road ones think they say discovery or discover or something along those lines , will know more about it all tomorrow taking it to a mates garage for the once over

"Huge scary looking possibly off road tyres"!!!!!! Think the best thing you could do with those is whip them off immediately, package them up and ship them direct to me by express courier and I'll have a look at them and take them for a test run and tell you if that's the source of your problem.

they say discoverer stt cooper on them defo not standard aize loads of tread on them may possible sell them on , the item number of the truck from ebay is here 170568629305 if you copy n paste it on ebay search it will so you them

Nice motor. Nice tyres too. They don't look very much oversize but it's hard to tell from the pictures. Needless to say I was only joking about whipping off the tyres. Don't think they will be causing you any real problems as they have a decent amount of thread left on them. Have something the same on my pickup and find them better that the less knobbly tyres I had on before. Mind you never did find the Coopers I used to have on that great for sideways grip

when i done my oil billcar reconmended gm vauxhall semi synthetic. if that helps. billcar wud be a good starting point.

check back with nissan they extended the d22 warrantys (fsh,100miles yr etc etc, blah blah) they should be offering a warranty on there new engine at least!

Word of warning on the rear diff oil, if you have a limited slip diff, make sure it says LS or LSD on the can if it does not then in my experience no matter what the seller says do not put it in, and it is not that dear, less than £5 per ltr, Rick

the back steps out on mine but since changing the lsd oil and fitting grabber at2's it now does when i want it to:thumbs
Tony

New Nissan

Personaly I would check all the paperwork as a priority.Contact Nissan and find out if the motor is still under warranty and if they will validate a claim.Would be a pity to loose the warranty because of a minor error - like not advising them of a new owner etc.You can bet they have something in the small print to cover their ars* ! Sounds like a good buy though,enjoy.:thumb2

Just stick your reg and postcode in here and it will tell you all the oils needed for what bits and even where to get them locally (Comma is an Exxon-Mobil company so good stuff).

Just in case (as it has thrown up the odd anomaly) double-check by doing the same thing but just by vehicle not reg (theres a link somewhere for that).
