yo_geolan_mtplus_ci2_l.jpg

went for some Yokohama Geolandar M/T Mud 30" 9.50" 15"

Nice :bow
I had some Insa copies of those and they were proper tidy:sly

they look really nice, i have just put the geolander G012 a/t,s on my pathfinder and they look the business.

I've run that tread on all my off-road motors, but with Greenway Macho labels. I think they are excellent tyres, great all rounders - good grip on tarmac and in mud! Good on side slopes too, they dont let go too early :thumb2

well just got back with the tyres and they seem to be very good value at £56 for 4

Hi Karl, you need to meaure the depth of tread to the bottom of the tread, when the indicators reach the surface they are close to 1.6mm, if they are European approved tyres.

Measure in several places, the tread must me at least 1.6mm across 3/4 of the tyre... But to be honest if you havn't got at least 1.6 mm across the whole tread you need to find out why.

1.6mm is the legal limit, stopping distances will drastically increase with less than 3mm anyway.

So the motoring organisatios suggest changing them at 3mm.
If you are off roading the more the merrier.

I find with less than 3mm you pick up punctures from thorns more often.

3mm on a spare would be ok. In my opinion anyway.

i think stopping distance is considerably less on mud tyres than the lt or road tyres any way due to lack of tarmac in contact with the road :nenau

got over 1.6mm and over 3mm just wanted to make sure i was measuring corectly :thumbs:thumbs:thumbs:thumbs:thumbs

and also i have noticed that alot of muds tend not to have a marker as my other tracker ii dont have any markers ether but the other 4 do bit odd lol :nenau

they seem alot more aggressive than i first thought tbh

That'll be the 40" tyres and massive suspension lift you were telling me about...
200hp, 40" tyres and extreme angles on allsorts of parts is bound to only lead to one thing! I have a mate who is known as a bit of a Jeep guru and he has plans for mine. Apparently with a 3" lift and 33's they are absolutely fine. Start pushing for 4" or more (kits are readily available for up to 6" lifts!) and I believe you could be running into problems.
The beauty of the cherry 4.0 is they are all auto, have super torque and super low ratios... you hardly need to give them any gas in technical bits which results in less breakages.

Something i've always kept in mind though is that you are bound to damage or break something when off-roading is your hobby... fixing it afterwards is part of the fun!

No it was not me who did this, but the owner before. I bought it, fixed it up and tuned it... turned it into an unstoppable beast! :naughty

now thats typical cherry their did it get confused about a corner :lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol

That was Mick from NW4X4 getting a little over excited on a slope :lol

Quite amazing how it was recovered and hyad very little damage :thumb2

So did the tread help when he was upside down waving the tyres in the air.....
seems like a good time to check the tread depth as you would not have to bend and get your hands dirty..lol
