Hi all,

Alas .....It's still an on going problem - for about a year I've been getting clutch judder ( not me personally but it has been getting worse  )when I take up drive in 1st gear in low revs - sometimes much worse than other times but there is a shaking and what seems like a stalling engine feel.

Sometimes the juddering continues for a few seconds after I've floored the clutch as if the engine is about to die.:nenau

Any ideas?

1st thought, air in the system, have you recently bled the clutch?
2nd, check the damper pipe, it runs the length of the vehicle, corrodes, leaks and terminates with bleed nipple around the rear axle.
The pipe is not needed in 99.99% of vehicles, and most disconnect the pipe near to the slave cylinder, blank off the pipe with a ball bearing and suitable bolt, plenty of posts on this if you do a search.
3rd, the flexi pipe to the slave starts to ballon out when the clutch pedal depressed, so needs replacing.
4th, check the master and slave cylinders for leakage.
Also worth doing a fluid change as the fluid is probably black and not clear straw colour as per new brake fluid.

These are the cheap fixes, other than that, the clutch release arm could be damaged, or clutch ...:doh
Even oil on the clutch plate, check bottom of bell housing for signs of oil.

Hope this helps,

best regards,
Rustic

from what you say, it might not be the clutch, since you say it carries on after you re-dip the clutch.

Does it still do it when you raise the revs up and try and pull away?

I think my first port of call would be to check engine and gearbox mounts.
