The R3mR let me down over the weekend with a flat battery - turned out to be the Alternator had packed up so its not too expensive to fix.

Got me thinking again about a replacement and am looking at a Grand Cherokee Auto 3.0 litre diesel its a 55 plate with the Merc sourced engine and a good specification.
Not expecting much change in economy fuel wise but do not want to buy a money pit.
Anyone on this site had experience of owning one ?
Gone off the idea of a Kia Sorento or Sportage this week !

If you can get in touch with (perhaps through Bat 21, our very able website administrator) deleted member 'Daved' is a proud owner of such a beast and extols their superb virtues.

My R3mR only does 21 mpg on the urban cycle and manages 25-28 mpg on long runs so I am not expecting an increase in economy on the fuel front.

Its the reliability of the drive train on the Auto that concerns me. Am I right in thinking its similar to the Merc 4 matic system ?
