ive got this ear rattle

hi .
i have this rattle sounds like one of the tappets.ITS NOT.
checked and adjusted them again today took for a test drive .STILL SAME.
RATTLE RISES AND FALLS WITH RPM.
just clocked 175.K
I dont think its a diesel knock.
or little ends. or mains.
exhaust note sounds sweet and even .

Sounds silly but it's not your power steering adjuster bolt is it :? I found mine was loose the other month but the pump was secure :roll:

Could it be a dodgy push rod if these have then :? I must have a look at the manual at hoe these engines are put together

im with toolbox worn lobe/cam follower,it used to be spray bar cloggin in ol cortinas

if the problem is worn out cam followers and cam shaft can it be fixed with engine in.

your gonna be pulling most front engine off probibly something at rear (sods law says so !) be easier cheaper to put 2nd hand engine in bet cam etc be nightmare to source

its an ohv engine so cam is in the block.

ohv not cam if followers will come through pushrod holes with magnet head can stay on

So it should have push rods like the A series & X flow engines I think :?
I realy am going to have to look at the manual

yes mate ive been trying to find piccie see if its push rod tubes or if the head has like big oval holes they come through to see if followers could be plucked out from top if what ive seen on ebay are correct pictures they wont so head off aswell

No its an engine out job you will need to fit new camshaft bearings as well

MOT DUE 26/5/08. SO MARSHALL STACK ON 11 TILL THEN.
may try one of these slick 50 type things just to help it along.
see how it goes its not to bad yet but not worth spending time and money on it.
besides how else will i get a newer motor :wink:

Only if downhill :wink: I spent nearly 3 hours yesterday helping with the pushing, jacking, waffle boarding and winching a pajero up :roll: Next time it goes over the edge -rotfl-
