The only rust I have on my 15 year old Maverick is ...:doh
believe it or not are the rubber Mud Flaps:nenau
I was going to post this on April 1st, but I was too happy congratulating myself on another MOT Pass. But it is no joke..
They are the original ones, with Ford on the rear ones, and they must have an inner steel liner embedded in the rubber/plastic.
However age has taken its toll and moisture has started to corrode the inner and started to expand causing the rubber to splt allowing even more water in.
All 4 have the same issue, but the front two are the worst.
Has any one else had this problem?
My concerns after removing one of the front ones is that the rust has penetrated the rear of the mud flap, which is in contact with the metal wing (so out came the waxoyl).
Regards,
Rustic
