I can't believe you don't have to adjust something or whatever!

I did NOTHING, just filled it up. I admit its an arse twitcher when you do, but after a few days you wonder what you were worring about. :clap

And dont waste you time listening for every litlle rattle and start panicing. It will run fine.

Have had my maverick on the road for 2 weeks now and think its a great truck, Ive done about 350 miles on £80 of diesel that's the worst bit, i drove a Saab 2.2 diesel before that and that would have done about 430 to 450 miles on £80 of diesel but cant expect it to do the same. Going to farmfoods tomorrow and try it on 50/50 mix with vegi oil, one question i have i pull a caravan in the summer lol what mix towing?

Just driven from Malvern to Kings Lynn in my 96 2.7TDi SWB Mav with a full tank. After fitting a cheap "Ebay" Air Induction Filter, I'm impressed!
First quarter tank was 132 miles, total miles here was 178 and I'm only just past the first quarter tank mark. Not gone over 70mph, average 65mph.
I'll let you know what the round trip comes out at when I've driven back on Tuesday.

I wouldnt get too exited get past 3/4 of a tank mark and it drops at a rapid rate its kidding you into thinking its economical:lol

i did have a fule leak and i replace with fule line hose as the hole thing does need replacing but it will do untill i can replace it.
or buy a van and use that.
does any one no where i can i get a cheap diesel van from for less than 400 quid :D

A window cleaner travels a few hundred yards, stops, then restarts after 20 minutes, then does this all day.

Most of the time the vehicle is stationary when the engine is running.
Rarely drives any distance in fourth or fifth gear.
Never gets to full temperature, plays havoc on the battery and starter motor.

No wonder the fuel consumption is low.

Either get a bike with side car for the ladders, or consider say a Citroen Picasso diesel, cheap as chips. Plenty of room, our 1.6 hdi does 50 mpg even on short runs.

My diesel mav used to do 30 mpg on a 15 mile trip to work on main roads, but now with short journeys rarely does 25, due to the stop at either end.

Over Christmas we went from Cannock to Winsford and back, from Cannock to Oxford and back and local journeys, so it had a good run. Son was home for Christmas and he borrowed the Picasso.
Mav runs better now after the jaunt.

I for one wouldlike to know How you're doing on Veg Oil?

Haven't been on a 'puter much over Christmas, veg oil has more power per litre than diesel so if it's summer and your truck is enjoying the chippie experience, 100% oil for towing. If you mix petrol to thin it (I use up to 20% as this'll not gel below about -17 or so) then the petrol will reduce the cetane figure for your fuel, additives like vegiboost will bring that back up to the proper level. Diesel will also thin the oil and not reduce the cetane below what you're used to but you need much more of it to get the veg runny and stay runny in the cold weather.

Older diesel Merc's used to advise adding petrol to the diesel in winter (up to 30% in some cases) to avoid gelling.
