So I was driving down a double lane today, put foot to floor and she wants rather gutless, crawled to 3.5k perhaps 65mph but didn't want to go any faster, I began to lift my foot off gas and she sped up and felt the power return almost immediately, when pedal was light she was very responsive again.

This is surely a pedal fault? :nenau

not necessarily, if you have a restriction in your filter/fuel line it could produce the same symptoms ie foot flat to the floor drawing more fuel than can be supplied, back pedal off a little, fuel now able to supply need, Rick

Yes true, however with the fault being so incredibly intermittent, cold, hot, wet, dry, sometimes running beautifully for long periods of time I suspect electrical :thumb2

Defo a good shout, perhaps I should use some of that clear tubing you gave me for filter :thumb2

is it worth borrowing a pedal for a week for diagnosis?

I had similar issue years ago on my MAv, got a new pedal from MakeItFit and that fixed it.

the electricals on that pedal are in a sealed unit, so I can only assume some sort of electrical degradation inside.

Yes for sure, but has anyone got a pedal I can try?

And another question at that, I know there are a few bolts above to remove but what about springs ect? Or is that all fixed in the unit? Don't wanna take apart if it's gonna fling into a million bits :lol

I got one on a 98 but do not know if it is the same, will get it off later and take a pic, Rick

I think it depends Rick, my old 97 had two plugs, I believe the newer models 2000 onwards are one plug...

There were so many changes made around this time, was this when Renault got involved? :nenau

Urm a slight embarrassment today, she was generally quite well over the weekend but at certain times, rather gutless, so today when I dropped off the missus and had the engine running I decided to peek under the bonnet whilst it was running.

I was attempting to press down the fuel primer but it wouldn't really move.

Then.... I spotted something embarrassing... The Maf was totally unplugged :eek::eek:

Now from what I have heard these motors chuck on an Eml and don't run with it disconnected, I've been running around with it off since Thursday when I checked my Maf numbers for mad mark....

So how can this be the case, thought it was essential... :nenau

they do run with it disconnected, just on ECU default settings which of course aren't great....

Huh interesting as I have a remap, I wonder if running on remap or standard settings? :nenau

And sorry Rick did not see your earlier post, thank you for the offer, mine is one plug though (from the pictures I can see) :thumb2

Wierd as if I disconnect mine it'll idle but will not increase revs etc just sit and idle
