Is this deception?

I recently had a minor mishap, phoned Sheilas Wheels, 'Is there any way I can lose my protected NCD' says me, 'No' said the bloke, :clap
So I made a claim, my discount is untouched but as I made a claim I have an 20% or so increase in my premium.:doh
Incident cost my neighbour £75 to fix so he is happy, he will get his money back
As I made a claim I have to pay an increased premium despite not losing my NCD:doh
Where is the justice? I will be chasing the FSA about this, watch this space
Did I mention Sheilas Wheels?

We had a similar issue when my wife had an arguement with the wall at home with her picasso, it only scraped the plastic bumper, so we thought like you, use the protected no claims.... Won't cost us anything.... so we thought too.:doh


But.. This still hangs on your insurance for 5 years, when we looked at other insurance companies we had to declare it, and the premium would have been more expensive....

As she was a named driver on my Mav, my insurance would have been higher too.:doh

I wish we had gone direct to "Chips away" or similar.... paid cash...
Cheaper and less hassle.

The garage had the car 1 week, and when we went to collect it, there was more damage to the chrome trim and the rear inner wheel arch liner.
So they had it for another week......:doh :doh

This was the first claim we had made in 30 years of driving too......:doh:doh


How to reduce the chances of Knock for Knock.
I just bought a camera for the car that stores data to an SD card automatically whilst the ignition is on.

Playing with it at the moment, only £25, Colour screen, mic, date time stamp.
An 8GB Sd (not inc) card will record 2 hours and then record over again etc.

Will take up to 32 GB, so could record 8 hours.

Can be set up to record on motion as well. Leave it ready in a car park for instance....

So if a claim is required you have some evidence to show the police OR you could delete it.....:augie

Beware chaps that just by simply ringing to enquire about a bump you've had, even if you don't go on to claim, can be filed and used to calculate your risk level! This was reported on BBC Watchdog a few months back. By having a bump you are still seen as more likely to have an accident that will require a payout so they up your cost. Protected NCD is just like a members discount it's not a 'have a free repair and we'll ignore it ever happened'. Insurance companies have turned into ripoff merchants but probably because they have been ripped off so much by some unscrupulous people.

I read his feedback too, it seems that things from China get lost, but those sourced from UK all seem OK. So I took a chance...

Another scenario where you loose out (and the insurance company gains) even though you should not:

Someone else damages your vehicle, they admit liability, the car is fixed, your excess is recovered and you think great all back to normal and at no cost to me.

THINK AGAIN!

When you come to renewal, even though no fault of your own your "no fault" accident will cause your premium to be higher than it would have been without the accident.

Apparently this is because insurance is all calculated on the probability of risk, and someone who involved in an accident is more likely to have another accident than someone has not been involved in an accident.

This happened to me a number of years ago.

I have decided that the next time someone damages my car, I will forget using my insurance company to make a claim, I will use a solicitor to persue a claim for all damages PLUS future premium increase costs.

its a NO CLAIMS discount not a NO BLAMES discount

as an insurance broker had the honesty to point out.

We had it when old t2 was written off, she said as young driver
her fault settle privately, I doubted her so reported to insurer
in case she went back on her word.

Despite all evidence in world her insurer then blamed me, our
insurer Aviva, aka ****ers, failed to support me suggested
50/50 or take to court at my risk. So I backed down at took
50/50, sure got full pay out, write off and kept car, and sold it
for a same amount but insurance prompty went up.

Live n learn, next take get cash, or find some big friends of big
friends to go with you....
