Hi, I had 2 new front tyres on the Terrano yesterday and had a quick look around when the wheels were off.

What is the part pointed out in the photo below? Is this the "anti roll bar drop link rod"? (name taken off Ebay - it looks similar!). If not what is it and is it easy to replace? Wouldn't want to undo a nut and everything collapses.

Both sides look like they need replacing.

Thanks.

Thanks Rustic. Appreciated. :thumb2

Another job on the must do in the next week or two list.

Hi, bought the 2 ARB drop links and hoped to change them today.

However I have hit a problem. When I try and undo the nut at "1", it won't come off as the whole shaft is moving too. I have tried grips at "2" but not budging. I gave up after two @#£%& hours. I also soaked it in plusgas. No affect.

Short of taking it somewhere to have it cut off or torched off, what should I do. Any easy solutions?

If you are able too, remove the whole arb bar from the vehicle. Then work on it in a vice.....

The end of the bolt takes an allen key to stop it rotating.:thumb2

An angle grinder will sort it in a few seconds.
But wear eye protection, and watch where the sparks go, as they can penetrate rubber and plastic hoses and damage body work.:thumb2

Hacksaw if theres no space, takes a few mins

Remove arb to clean off the bolts.

Thanks everyone. I'll have a retry on the weekend.

If I had read the workshop link "Changing front near side anti roll bar drop link" properly in the first place that Rustic gave me (which mentioned the Allen key!), maybe I wouldn't be in this situation.

Cheers:thumb2

Some have 2 flat sides on them so you can fit a spanner to stop it rotating whist you take the nut off others have an allen key hole in the end. When I did mine I was fitting poly bushes at the same time so just removed the whole ARB after taking off the front skid plate & put a pair of vice grips on the old drop link & stood on it whilst I removed the nut but if that hadn't of worked it would have been put in the vice or Mr grinder would have came out
