This country does not know what snow is and I fail to see what the EFF is up with it that we grind to a halt at the first showings, Rick

Its the nanny state raising its ugly head.
I didn't always work so close to home or own a 4WD but the weather has never stopped me getting to where i needed to be.
It's how unprepared and uneducated folks are nowadays that gets me.

Don’t forget soft or is it simply looking for an excuse not to do something?

Yeah that's probably the main reason Jim, straight out laziness.
My daughter's fella is one of them.
He apparently couldn't get to work because the roads where too bad but managed to drive to the gym instead.

I like, but sadly do not get enough snow to justify, bet they are megabucks too, Rick

Well, our snow has all but gone... The rain today washed it away.

Over the 4 days, we did a total of 369 miles ferrying around "critical workers". Most were happy to see us, and the nurses were all lovely and appreciative.

Our last trips were with a critical care worker, who was a miserable git. He hardly spoke any words to us on the entire journey, and even let us drive past the house, as he had only given us the postcode, and the house was right at the beginning of the postcode area, and the satnav took us to the middle of the area. I think he was less than impressed when we turned up at 20:30 to take him 30 miles to his charge, and were then back again in the morning to take him back again for the morning visit. Of the few words he did say to us, he honestly thought he was going to get 2 days off because of the snow!! I do wonder how he imagined a bed ridden lady would be able to cope for those 2 days...

On the last trip, his office called him, and asked if he could get us to take a picture of him by the car... His words to me..

"Can you take a picture of me by this thing for my office?"

After having to put up with care workers with Suz's dad, and then meeting this guy, I actually think Care Workers are worse than Social workers!!!

It's a worry isn't it, if that's his attitude towards you imagine what he is like with the service user, I hate the thought, may be worth making a call to his boss!!

I know I should not generalise, but most of them are the same, we saw it so many times with Suz's dad. We changed care agencies 6 times trying to get better care for him.

They are in and out as quick as possible, even when they are booked for 1/2 an hour, if they can get it done in 15mins, they do, and are straight out the door. We asked them to use the extra time to talk to Suz's dad, and encourage him to eat, but when we checked on the cameras, they never bothered. I honestly can't tell you how many times we complained, just to be fobbed off, or told they would sort it out.

If I thought it would make a difference, I would call his boss, but I know they don't care. Just to put it in perspective, in the morning, he had 2 jobs, a 1/2 hour, and then a hour one. He was allocated just 15 mins between jobs, that were 16 miles apart, with a good half on back roads, and in our case, covered in snow and ice. But in reality, he took less than 15 mins on the first, and only 30 mins on the second anyway.

Hope you didn’t take the photo or at least take the photo and ask for an email address of his manager.

That is such a shame to hear... Makes me hope I never have to depend on such a service! :(

well , ive had to rely on carers in the past , particularly after my 3rd stroke , I must say they were very professional and helpful , the rehab team ( occupational therapists etc ) weren't however , they brought me a nice shiny brand new wheelchair , it looked really nice , I looked at the " professional therapists " and said I cant use my left arm , what do you want me to do with that ? ...... go round in circles ? :lol

We found the "re-enablement teams" to be fantastic, talking to Michael and chivvying him along, but I think the OT try too hard to prove a point. Michael needed an air matrice, but it was only when they collected all his stuff after he died they pointed out that it is supposed to be in place of the normal matrice, not on top of the normal one, so would not have worked properly.

I guess it does depend on area, I have generally found the further north you travel the more caring people are in general.
