I have an 03 ex Police Terrano 2.7td but dont know what should be standard spec, and as I need to order parts for it would appreciate advice.

Apparantly I have solid hubs, I checked yesterday and posted pics in my other thread (Terrano Clonking) and I need to order a CV joint and want to make sure the supplier sends me the right one 1st time!

Will most other things on this car be standard? It does have aircon btw.

Ive had a couple of Jeep grand cherokee's (later models 2000yr+) and they were like barges to drive! Im suprised how well this Terrano drives, with a very easy cruise at 70mph, good handling (for a 4wd) and I have seen speed WAY above 70 on a private road of course, in excess of 90. I believe this also has an LSD at the back?
Thanks

you might be able to find out from the police what sort of modifications they made perhaps??

was that on the speedo or sat nav, mine says I can do more than 95 on the speedo but it reads fast, Rick

Rick

That was on speedo (it has shown over 100) but Im not sure if its calibrated as an ex Police vehicle. I have read about the optimistic speedo's on these so reckon at least 10% out.

Even if its 10% though, its very good for the size/weight. And it was returning high 20's mpg (28-30) for my brother.

Im impressed!

Tim in all honesty I doubt theres been much done to it except perhaps electrics for blues/lights/radio which must have been stripped.

The 3.0 litre lump is from the Patrol and in the T2 should be good for 30-32mpg. Its also got around 150-odd horses compared to the TDi's 125 so more torque and speed.

And all facelifted (1999 onwards) 2.7s and 3.0s have fixed hubs and ALL Terranos have had an LSD although the oil doesn't get changed often enough (in fact usually never) and should be done every 40k miles so do it or get it done.

As to top speed, I have a Tunit on my current 2.7 Tdi which adds 20-25bhp but even my non-Tunit equipped T2s (I've had three and a Maverick, two from new) have all been good for 105-110 on the speedo....my current manual just touches 100mph on the satnav (sur le continent of course) on the flat after a bit of encouragement, but I put that down to the fact that I have mine serviced regularly and tend to thrash them soundly rather than pootle about - big diesels don't thrive on being neglected like that.:augie

Performance sounds standard to me , mine will sit happily at "real life" motorway speeds all day and it hasn't been serviced for over 2 years ;O)

My old TD was clock doing over a ton on the M40 , luckily i could prove i had sold it the previous week
