The bite point on my truck is quite low, looking at the pedal it sits about an inch lower than the rest of he pedals.

Sometimes, not always - it's awkward to get into gears. I've tried with the engine off and clutch down and I can get into gears easy.

It's been like that for about 6000 miles, since I got the truck really. I think it was in one of it's good moods when I bought it.

It doesn't appear to be getting worse, either that or I'm getting use to it. I had a Fiat Brava were the clutch went, but you could here it rattling away like a machine gun unless you were right on the bite.

I'm expecting it to be the clutch - has anybody had one fitting - is it worth it (I paid 650 for the truck, everything else appears ok-touch wood!)

Fluid level is fine. I've quoted around 400 quid supplied and fitted for a new clutch kit

my neighbour has just got his truck back today, new clutch, fork, master cylinder, £500 fitted, i think it was a bit on the dear side but seems happy.:nenau:doh

i sold him the truck 6 months ago,<a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZSfox000%2526i%253D4%252F4%255F18%255F7%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_18_7.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D4%252F4_18_7%2526uiv%253D3.0/image.gif"></a>

That's interesting!
I will need to do my clutch soon and wondered which way round was quickest/easiest:augie
Anybody done it please advise:D

Maybe you can help with my clutch problems, however, having not owned one before it may be the characteristics of the beast.

I have now had a chance to go for a good run in this machine in fact we have just been to North Wales and completed about 850 miles. MPG seemed to work out at an average 30 mpg. Pleased with this as fully loaded and expectionally steep hills - to get to cottage meant you had to travel up in 1st gear.

Clutch - the bite point is about half way up on pedal. It will grab and stall the engine if you don't pay attention and 'feather it'.

Questions -

1. Is this normal?
2. Or do you think it is the pressure plate or centre plate running out of true making it grab?
3. Any thoughts on Warning Light? See below on what happened when this came on -

Because it stalled several times and I had to re-start quickly in traffic - the Engine Management light has come on now. The book is not very helpful. It does mention Immobilisation Sytem and to get keys reprogrammed! I can still use the vehicle it opens/shuts with remote, starts OK and goes. I wonder if it is the quick starting has made the vehicle think I am trying to re-progamme the key.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

P.S. I also want to ask a question about the 'surging' on the fuel injection pump. I will look around to see if anyone else has posted about this if not will start a new thread.

Dave, your description sounds very similar to my truck. I get the bite on the clutch, I can move the truck using the clutch only and hold it steady on an incline, but you can feel it's getting ready to stall if your not careful.
My engine management light comes on sometimes after stalling also - I believe this just to be a part of starting quickly as it upsets the immobilizer. When I've stopped at lights further down the road I switch the ignition on and off but slowly - the light goes out. I don't think you have any engine problems as mine runs fine also.

Thanks - Electrip.

Maybe I have been too quick on the switching on/off. Once you are in holiday traffic it is easy to do because you feel such a pratt.

Do you think if I take it up the road and stall it, which is easy to do, then SLOWLY switch ignition on and off my light might go out?

About the clutch - not sure I like this characteristic. When my wife starts driving it - it will be interesting!
