Well Neddy i'm happy to go with your measurements mate as i'm only 10 miles north of Newcastle (the Toon) So I can get to a meet & pop home for tea & get back to the meet    Newcastle is also rated in the top 5 night spots in the world 8)

tape measure is obviously faulty

I do see the point Meriden may be central to England but not the UK, but having said that its closer to me so maybe i will side with jace

mate mine lives there hes a radio ham so know village quite well there a cross in village green saying "center of england" he always starts his radio conservations with this fact lol

Sorry but we are international, so there fore half way would be around Pakistan or Iraq both would be ideal for showing off the Nissans  or maybe the Maldives would be nicer.
Maybe where the 1,000 person lives ?

I like your suggestions, a war zone, a country facng a little political instability, or an island (difficult for towing the caravan to) the 1000th members home town sounds good, we all descend on them and make them feel realy welcome, or they think we are all weirdos and call the police!
lets hope they dont live to far from dudley west midlands.

in fact when the counter gets to 999 i may join again!

logik works well but knowing my luck itll be aussie fella who grabs number 1000 lol

i like the idea but we have great difficulty getting members to attend 1 annual rally each year

hands up those who have been to more than two rallies -welldone-

would it not be a better idea to celebrate the running of the exsisting club and it going from strengh to strengh at the next annual rally

as if my calculations are correct next yeras it's the 5th year and if i am wrong who cares lets just get a megga get together.

Dunsop Bridge in Lancs claims to be the geographical centre of the UK.

Aye and theres a lane near there I fancy a go at too.

Trough of Bowland, Dunsop bridge, little trough - middle of the night - must do another rally soon.

Done a bit of googling and Dunsop Bridge (or actually a point on the moors above the village) is recognised by Ordnance Suvey as the exact centre of Britain based on the land mass. Haltwistle in Northumberland also claims to be the centre but this is based on pure linear dimensions and does not take into account the fact thatEngland/Wales are a lot wider (thus more land mass) than scotlland is. If you were to cut out the shape of britain in card/wood etc it would balance on dunsop bridge.

robobone is right we have a big bash to look forward to, but if the 1000th member joning happens close to this time then it would be a good double celebration!

I have been to 2 so far and i have only paid my mebership twice so thats 100% attendance

i have only paid one membership and done one rally so far so im in planks minority :!:

i think

Just north of there is the road over Salter Fell. I've heard from another GLASS member that it may not now be TROd - LCC confirmed but only verbally over phone. The GLASS Lancashire Rep is checking and trying to get written confirmation.

Cheers
Andrew

It's ok travelling to these places but would there be facilities to cope with the vehicles, caravans / tents and people that would arrive at a designated location! Just imagine 2 or 300 4x4's and their associated support all turning up in your back yard! It's a long way to go only to have the local constabulary telling you to "sling your hook!"

it would need to be a big site, everyone would be phoning law like you say claiming theres a band of travelers about to descend on there sleepy little village!

I,ve re done my measurements, I went metric this time and it apears the centre of Great Britian is MURRYFEILD in edinbourgh
:! WELL I,M SHOCKED:!
But there is a good Jimmy choungs quiet close

maybe we could get squad together and how em how to play rugby lol
