I have a problem with the engine intermittently faulting, and going into limp mode while driving. Happens during all driving conditions. Fault codes are 47 72 and 75. All I have done to reset it if it stalls is turn the key off then on and it starts.
Until now. It turns over and will not start. Has anyone else had this happen? I took a video the day before. https://youtu.be/Q3-b-JCEXAA

Codes point to injection pump or crank sensor.

Almost certainly your CPS, it is a coil of fine wire round a magnet and over time a strand breaks from expansion and contraction, often it will start from cold cos when contracted the wires touch but as it heats up they part but ECU falls back to limp, but if cold they do not touch it will not start as fall back values only come into play once engine is running, is it Bosch or Zexel, Maff will tel you, if Zexel I have sensors, they are mounted on the timing cover, I do not have a Bosch, expect to pay good money for one, Rick

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll take it out this weekend and get the PN off of it.

Thanks guys.

Update. So I've taken the cps out and cleaned it. I checked ohms before and after and they are about the same. 1435 or so. Leaving the ohm meter on it and moving the sensor in and out of a piece of metal, the resistance changes. As it should. I put it back in to check if it would start. No go.

Is there a guide to how to diagnose this pump on this site. I've search but haven't found specifics.

Bit late in the day but going on what you say I think this could be a security/NATS issue, what is the red led up by the windscreen doing? Rick

Or possibly bad connection to the cut off solenoid on the pump, or even solenoid failure, check for voltage, Rick, sorry off to bed now.

What type of Terrano is this? Looking at your location you probably have a different spec to UK but granted a lot of the basics will be the same or similar. Also it is a 2.7tdi isn't it.

Is yours a R3M or R20 for instance?

If you're unsure post a quick photo of your truck too.

Good luck and I'm sure people will come up with some more advice:thumbs

Thats for the suggestions.
Solarman, it doesn't have a security blinking light on the dash. Not sure what voltages should be on the pump connections but there is power going to the pump on multiple wires.

Vehicle is a 1999 Terrano r3mv . Japanese model

I'm not getting power to the crank pos sensor. Checked all fuses and all good.
Codes that have come up so far
46 47 72 73 75 76

47 is certainly CKP do not have the other codes listed in my short list I have another comprehensive list but cannot find it, you will not expect to see a voltage on the CKP wires, the CKP generates its own "pulse) as the crank passes TDC and this is read by the ECU, Rick

with a high impedance dvm (most are) you should measure around 2.5VAC while cranking, anything significantly lower would suggest the sensor is past its prime.

Excellent Ray, I will note that for future reference, but I think black fox was looking for a voltage on the harness wires, hence him checking fuses, if his sensor is OK it may point to a connection problem CKP to ECU, or a NATS problem if he has NATS, 3 tries with a bad key and he will be locked out, Rick

Is there a way to check if it's the NATS? Why would the crank pos sensor and pump codes come up?

Not sure, your spec is clearly different to ours, I would be going the CKP route first , but if you do not have the dash red LED for NATS what do you have? Rick

Not sure what it has. There's no indicator there is a security issue. All my other vehicles have a indicator light for security. Either on the dash or gauge cluster.
