So I just need the 14pin connector from a scrapper to cut up and connect to my obd2 plug, then the consult will plug into the 14 pin I got and modded ?

I could solder a 14 pin diagnostic plug into the wires in the back of my obd2 plug ?

This is what i did, bit rough with the chocy block but like i say i couldnt get it working, though i suspect the consult adapter might be rubbish, so im going to order another one and see how it goes.

No I had not seen your "Consult 2" post, but I have now......
It will work, you just have to rewire 4 connections from the 14 pin interface adaptor to a 16 pin JS1692 plug or stuff the wires into the 16 pin socket with matchsticks!
The 16 pin connector uses pins 12 (SCTX) 13 (SCRX) 5 (GND). & Pin 8 +12V
The 14 Pin connector uses pins 1 (SCRX) 2 (SCTX) 14 (GND) & Pin 7 +12V
Ignore the Clock connection, it's not needed and probably not even got a pin there!
Consult I / Consult II, the communication protocol is compatible.

Your 16 pin connector should look like this:

Ok, so I've got these :

Should i just solder the obd2 connector up to the 14pin as described above ?

opening up the consult, I can't see what colour wire conects to what pin :/

Is it a case of cutting open the moulded plug to see what colour goes to what pin?

Just use a multimeter to see which pin goes to each wire, easier than chopping it up

just wondering why you are rewiring the consult, its easier to make and adapter lead 16pin to 14pin, then you dont need to rewire the consult.

I'm not really sure which way to do it :p

With what i have it seems easier to rewire the correct pins off the consult to the obd2 connector

Are you suggesting to get an old 14pin connector from a scrappy as suggested above ?

seems like more messing about trawling scrap years and driving around

Oh right well if you dont have a 14pin then i guess its easier to resolder the consult, just follow rayf's pin out numbers and you should be laughing, i find it easier to figure out which pins are which first and where they go, do a little drawing then check the drawing again and crack on.
