Hi all, the other day i decided i would buy an extra interior light to put in the front.
So i bought a terrano one with map lights and the switch for the sunroof (which i dont have...)

Anyway it arrived today and i am a little confused about where it goes and how it would have originally been secured into the head lining

So would it be possible for anyone to post a picture of theirs in place?

This is the one i bought:

The problem is that the plastic bit isnt flat, flush fitting

:) yes i have bought the same, waiting to fit, i think that originally it would have fitted to the other part of the trim off the sunroof, not sure though, will be interesting what responses you get,

Hi guys, I'll post a pic for you both tomorrow, also, I'll show you what wires to use for the lights, Its not going to be a easy job I'm afraid as the terrano with the sunroof and lights have a slightly different shapes roof lining, the roof lining on the ones fitted with map lights and sunroof actually have a bulge in the roof lining to acomodate the motor, the newer terrano 2000 onwards that dont have sunroofs actually do have map lights, just modifyed to fit a flat roof lining 'without the bulge' the map lights actually fit onto the sunroof frame behind the lining, you will also require the motor cover that fits onto the back of the light just to make it look better, it'll also need modding so it fits flush.

Hi, thanks for the reply

I have just been looking at the manual and you are right, the light forms part of the sunroof trim...

Yes, there is a plan 'B' though, just mount one of these in the space, when I had a swb LX, I also attempted to do what you're doing and ran into the same problem:doh

As I said, this might work, will be a hell of a lot brighter too:thumb2

Ryan, did your car come with the lights that sit over the front passengers heads as standard, both of mine had the light by the front screen and then one just behind front passengers.

nah, that's a Ryan modification :thumb2

ok, on my spare map lights the red wire with green tracer stripe is positive and the black wire is negative, these two wires should be all you need for the lights to work

here's what they should look like

looks good, where did you get the units and did they fit ok

thanks :) was very tight, the units are actually the number plate illuminations from a rover 100 metro, i mounted a switch in the centre console for them, put all the wiring in when i had the roof lining out

also some more lighting, you'll recognize that one of the light units is out of a honda jazz!
