I used to use de-ionized water when I had a Triumph Stag with anti freeze, not sure if it made difference though.

A car plagued with overheating issues however a recent test carries out by the Channel 4 program "for the love of cars" proved that it was just poor factory config and once drained, re-filled correctly the stag cooling system proved more than adequate

agree with all of that but as this stuff can be as dear as fuel I say collect clean rain water as long as it has not come off a metal roof then filter it, (filter bags to 0ne micron off Ebay cheap as chips) I have used this for my batteries for years, Rick

The Stag, MGB, P38 & everything else that used the 3.5L Rover V8 could run a little warm if the cooling system wasn't kept in check :augie best engine Rover ever made sadly the 3.9, 4.0 & 4.2 were no where near as good as they all suffer porous blocks & at 2K for a short engine it's no cheap fix:doh

The Stag used Triumphs own 3.0L engine, some were retro fitted with the Rover engine by some owners but not worth the same as the original Triumph engined Stag now days

I also watched the same programme. But based on a few owners that i have spoken to.
They had more problems with gearbox's than overheating..

Ah, that didn't come up in the show

I loved the thermal camera's, what I'd do for a workshop like that, sometimes I wish I could just have a roof over me when fixing the car :lol

Same here with regards to having some over head cover...
