So I was out and had a brief stop off at the fuel station.

Whilst walking away from my car the lock button would not work, on either key, oh crap I thought... Another problem... The unlock buttons not working either, upon speaking to the cashier he said "ah no, that spot in the corner there is nearest to the RAF base, everyone suffers with the came problem"

Never realised they could be so strong :nenau

Can only be a UHF transmission in the locality, I've accidentally locked people out of their cars in the past:augie

Which RAF base is it?

I reckon youve got some UHF transmissions around there, the remotes are UHF and their transmitters are more powerfull mate. It wont be their radar thats causing the problem.

Certainly nothing to worry about Alex

70cms usb ...... oops

Haha:clap

Doesn't matter what mode though. I heard that once a bloke at the cricket club where the radio club used to meet upset a radio club member. I believe the club members took it in shifts to key up their radios to keep this poor chap out of his car. :augie:augie:augie

You guys are now talking in Latin :lol

Did I do something wrong or have I cracked a military code? Who knows :lol

Sorry to disappoint but doubt it'll be anything secret, might even be the garage where you were that had someithing transmitting on UHF.

Well he was suggesting how loads of people at that corner of the petrol station complain of the same symptoms :lol

doesn't make it the RAF base, more likely just some local low power telemetry transmitter nearby that uses the same or close frequency.

Strong chance that it is the RAF base though

Not really, Just as much chance it's as said something more local.

Depending on how close it was to the station and the power they may be using it would travel much further into the petrol station and not just in the corner.

I had a similar experience some years ago, Stopped my car (disco at the time!) directly outside an Estate Agents while collecting a take away. When I returned, I could unlock the car, but the alarm kept going off and the immobiliser would not go off. Eventually got the RAC out, who put in on the back of a low loader. As soon as it was about 10ft from the Estate Agents, it all recovered and was fine from then on. I had the car about 4 years and it never happened again.

Turns out the Estate Agent had a complex alarm system which included a transmitter on a similar frequency that messed up the car system, but it was very local. If I had parked in the road instead of on the pavement I would have been OK.
