I think my intercooler has a hole in it, will have a proper look tomorrow.

Is it worth messing around with second hand ones from Ebay, or would I be better buying new, and if so, where from?

Surely time for a custom upgrade whilst your at it? :naughty

A new one from Nissan will cost the earth i'd have thought:doh so i'd go the S/H route if it's a standard one you want or if your willing to spend some pennies go for a front mount job as it will up the power a bit

I have gay aircon, and am proud of my gay'ness, so can't have a front mount one. Will need to just be a like for like.

Are they like radiator, where you can get new cores fitted?

Having air con shouldn't make much difference really as you can get IC's in all sorts of sizes & thicknesses. Never heard of anyone having an IC re-cored but I can't see why not if that's where there is a hole but if it's one of the headers then it could be welded up

Depends really how much laning etc Clive does:augie

I would be more worried about it when I am wading. I am trying to keep the Air intake as far away from the water as possible, and sticking the intercooler back down at water level strikes me as dodgy, especially as apparently they spring leaks....

You also need to worry about stick puncturing a hole in it etc

your metal weld is as good as a permanent repair why waste money on another one, Rick

I did wonder that, but it is where one of the tubes join the casting, and the aluminium is turning to that white powder.

The more I tried to clean it back to bare metal, the bigger the hole got, so I cut my losses, and plugged it as well as I could.

Not sure how long it will last though, as even the fins are flaking off there as well.
