Anybody know what the typical air temp is or should be after it's gone throught the intercooler?
I'm trying to source a thermo switch in the right range.:nenau

I asked this a bit back when I was going to put an intercooler fan in. Someone posted that very answer and a source for a thermo switch and I cant remember the answer but if you search its out there :thumb2

Top job, cheers DaveD, I'll be able to chill me cooler properly now:thumbs
Did you get yours done?

No I didnt , funds and time prevented. It is on the cards though :thumb2

I am contemplating doing the main fan and an intercooler fan in one foul swoop.

I did wonder how it would hack it towing (temp wise) in the warmer weather , as it managed no hassle during the heat wave I'll be going for a twin radiator fan and matching intercooler fan.

I got my fans from fleabay at £29 new plus post.
I'll find the link.
For the rad I got a twin set up from a Sierra cosworth, same also on mondeo.
Twin big slim fans again fleabay £15:thumbs

I got twin Nissan Pulsar/Sunny GTI-R fans for £15 just the right width and keep it in the family too.

I'm wondering what can be done to help extract more hot air from the engine compartment at low speed.....maybe a couple of fan-assisted bonnet vents? fans could be turned on for low-speed use only...? Would also help with airflow through the intercooler....not to mention cooling of same....? Now wheres that spare bonnet lid...?:augie

How will you go about stopping the rain getting in onto your electrics?

Little umbrellas? :nenau :lol

Nah I was thinking more of a couple of inverted reversed scoops since I assume theres negative air pressure in front of the windscreen? :)

I think at speed its not an issue, but it will get warm under there at low speed, like offroading...

This is a big prob on mr2's when they are parked up.

what have they got Paul, can't remember.... Is it that countersunk, frenched-in affair?
Thats right, rain water collects and when you move off the electrics get a wash, just what you need in winter.

But with all the plugs on top off our engines just wondered how you will keep water off them.

Well I'd suggest a standard scoop mounted other way up, like the intercooler one, but smaller, on each side and pointing backwards......?

With the bonnet slopeing towards the front, you will have to have a lip on them to stop rain running in while stood, going to have tobe tall scoops to be of any use, your thoughts?

Not immediately, but good point - I'm sure theres a way......I do happen to have a spare black bonnet though :augie

It wont matter what way the vents face to let the heat out as you will be at low speed.!
I would suggest to small scoops either side of the intercooler scoop & slightly in front.!
Plus when on the road at speed you will be getting more cold air in.!

What diameter are they ?

Thanks :thumb2

OTTOMY I can't remember tbh but IIRC the rad is 700mm wide and these were 350 wide including the frame/ducting - so I suppose the fans are probably 13" each. Anyway 2 of them are a nice snug fit across the rad, whatever the precise dimensions are.

Am aiming to use a Nissan (fitment - will probably be motorcraft or similar) temp switch too, make as much out of OE gear as possible - in general its far more reliable than aftermarket stuff.

ta :thumb2 I've noticed some say "10 inch fan overall fitting 12 inch " and so on, just want to make sure I get max fan power for the space :D
