Hi all, after a bit of advice, the linkage that goes from the vaccume diaphragm to the air intake shutter valve has broken away, leaving my shutter valve closed!! I have put it in the open position with a cable tie but wondered what I would need to replace? As its not there I can't see how I could make a new linkage or what part to order? It's a 02 2.7tdi.
Any help or advice would be great. Many thanks in advance Matt

Bin it :D
While you're there dump the EGR too, then all will be well again:thumbs
Oh and it's cheap as chips:cool:

Best thing is to remove the body, and remove the throttle plate off the shaft. Blank the EGR pipe whilst you are in there. Leave all vac hoses connected.

Thanks guys, I was thinking along them lines! I noticed it when banking the yet valve off, the opening of the shutter valve with banking eve has made a HUGE difference! I'll remove the butterfly next time I get the scanners out then.
Thanks again, Matt

Originally fitted by Nissan to stop engine judder/shake when engine switched off.

Stupid phone, meant to say, I noticed the linkage missing when I was blanking off the egr valve, and ill remove the butterfly next time I get the spanners out! And that blanking the egr valve off and holding shutter valve open has made a huge difference!
 thank-you again and ill proof read next time I write on my phone!! Lol

hi im new to this but was reading through about the shutter valve! i temporarily removed the butterfly off mine after problems with black smoke! dont think ill bother replacing it now!!!

The throttle valve is ther for two reasons - it helps with getting enough EGR flow at low engine speeds by increasing manifold vacuum, and then it reduces engine shudder at switch off.

Pugeuot (and many others use them) and are known as the 'dozeur valve' . :)

My linkage was also 'broken' when I bought my T2... didnt realise until I took off the intercooler the other day the blooming thing was closed all the time ... Have also held it open wiv a cable tie for now and seems to go a lot better! :D:D..Anyone know if this current 'mod' will upset the exhaust reading at an mot test and if so should I blank off the EGR input (at the rear of the inlet manifold I think???) to help? Not really sure what exactly it does (suppose it is more 'green' on exhaust emmisions) but am worried I will do damage or cause problems come MOT time
