Being old, the best price I can get is £185 from Churchill - Comp, Protected NCB & Legal.

Is that the best I can get? Or do you know somewhere else I could try?

I got roughly the same from them . but they have my t2 as a 2.7 td . but it has a intercooler. I have tried to sort it out . I have got hold of Nissan and told them that my documents say td but the engine is a tdi . so they check the codes and they are right . so I phoned dvla they said they can only go by what Nissan tell them . and my insurance has said they only go by what's on the documents . so I tried to change the details my self on the insurance and it went from £180 to £585 . so I left it . but I think if I ever had to claim they would get out of it

Confused is usually the best, but once u have entered the details play about with it a little, my quote dropped off once i put the value of my terrano up to 5200  so obviously its worth 5200 now... :nenau

There are some really backward things that can change the cost of your premium. I've done about 350 insurance quotes on confused :augie

This year, Churchill charged me £212.39, was more, but mentioned looking elsewhere and hey presto....down comes the price.

That's the thing with Insurance companies. They ask for the value of your car/truck.And will take your money based on that. But invariably only pay out the bottom market price. You can of course argue about what they offer. And never take their first offer,(Unless it meets the agreed value of your car/truck):)

What value should I put on mine? It will cost me £500, so what shall I say. I did put £1500 as a value...

2001 Y plate, 2.7 SE+, Auto, 44k Miles.

My son put a higher value price for his Discovery to get the price down, he upped it by £1000, then got a email from the broker wanting about £100 of him as they don't value it at what he valued it They have you by the b**locks, it's all legal robbery!

It doesn't really matter. If you put ten grand the will only pay a max of glass price anyway. If I were you I would do many quotes on confused and wait until the premium price drops. Too cheap and you are considered a risk. Too high and its obviously unrealistic.

Like I mentioned before I started the quote at 3000 value and kept adding to see what would happen. 22 quotes later at 5200 the price crazily dropped off!!! So it's worth playing first. :thumb2

As for value due to it being such a low mileage motor i'd stick the value at £2000 which might seem high to most but whats the chance of finding another super low mileaged Terrano:augie & insurance companies do take low mileage on board as I got above value when one of mine was written off:thumb2 TBH the price you've been quoted seems fine to me as there is a level which the price won't go under but it is an insurance group 13-14 motor:augie

Don't forget the insurance grouping system has changed, it now goes to 50 if I'm not mistaken (not an expert here) used to be 0-20 old skool :thumb2

Here we go..

I would be delighted to get a quote of £185, in Spain I've just paid £304 TPF&T with max ncb!

So really all they have done is double the insurance group numbers each motor was classed as so my group 14 is now 26 & my old Astra will have went from group 16 to 32:augie

Wow £185, gimme gimme gimme. I'm only just the right side of 50 and it's still over £500.

Just be warned everyone, once you have chosen the quote you want to go for a comparison site always always phone them to confirm the quote is correct and then once your documents come through again double check it is all correct.
