hey guys,

just getting some quotes together ready for next week. Some quotes are horrendous, some are ok. The best quote I have so far is from a company called Lancaster, and that comes in at £107 deposit then 10 monthly payments of £48 - so not too bad. Everyone else is considerably more.

As I own two other cars, I have no NCD to play with, I fully intend to ring round some insurers, but has anyone got any quotes recently, and can you recommend any insurers?

thanks:thumbs

We went with Elephant, and I have to say that were fantastic when we had the accident the other week. They were easy to get hold of, very professional when I was stressed beyond belief, and sorted out the recovery truck.

They wanted to get me a hire car, straight away, even though I said I did not need one, and then when I called and explained that I was not going to make a claim on my car insurance, they said that was fine, they would recover the money for the recovery directly from her insurance, and my no claims would not be affected.

Very impressed.

I had the same problem owing to having another car but
2gether insurance did mine for £229 fully comp for the year, but limited mileage,
they give you the same no claims discount that you have on your other vehicle

ill give those insurers a whirl. I haven't done the Meerkats yet...

Don't forget to order your toy :thumb2:thumb2

They do take a while to turn up though.

FECK ME! I can't wait for quotes like that :( I'm paying £95pm for 10mths :( but I covered for offroading :thumb2

NFU are good for me, you might even get "fleet" discount with having 3 cars.
They seem to be good for some and just downright awful for others, literally is a postcode lottery.

I guess the price is always the first consideration when shopping for any insurance.
But also equally important for me is the quality of service that is provided.

And some provide no service and no cover. As i stated earlier, there are loads of Ghost Insurer's.
So beware, and remember if it sounds too good to be true, then most likely it is.

These people often copy certain details from legitimate Insurance companies.
Then they offer lower quotes. You then pay up,and they send you your policy. That ends up being worthless.
And you could also end up getting nicked for no insurance..

Try calling Swinton, they have an office in Liversedge. Found them using Meerkats.

Try the limited miles thing too Clivvy.

Whatever you do avoid eSure, and Sheila's Wheels, who are owned by eSure.

I have had incredible problems with these insurers in the past, but that's another story...

You have warned!

Regards

Alan

Just got quote on my 3.0 terrano £218.36 fully comp direct line

do you have no claims on that? for me, its a new policy, despite me already having a car with them (multidiscount applied but doesnt seem to affect it much), im going to ring them Monday to see what they can do.

ok chaps, finally sorted my insurance. MakeItFit suggested "splitting" my no claims, but I found that my current insurer wont do that. Then I found there is such a thing as "mirroring" the No Claims Discount. Turns out, quite a few insurers will do this so I did some quick research and read that Sky Insurance do it. I contacted then and they confirmed they had the "facility". Spoke to them tonight, got a fully comp quote with 9 years NCD for £420. Not the best I have read people have on here, but way better than the quotes I have been getting.

I still need to read all the fine print etc which Is on its way in the post - no idea how the NCD is affected come a claim etc, but we will see.:thumbs

Lol you guys moaning about those prices!!!! I'd kill for prices like that!!!

I'm 22 with 4 years no claims paying £900 a year fully comp with off road cover via Adrian Flux and I thought that was good!!!!

Yes admiral multicar do this as well, when we bought our Alfa before selling my wife's car they mirrored my 7yrs NCD onto the new car and we insured the 3 cars until we sold the other one, was really impressed they did this because quotes with 0yrs NCD are frightening!!
