as you know sheilas disco has gone , so i got her a mistral , her insurance has gone up from £560 annually .... to wait for it ..............£1050  ..... the only difference is she has a mistral now :(

bloody hell!!

you seriously need to shop around mate. i had the same experience with my MX3 and i got it back down to a more reasonable amount.

who ya with?

direct line , but even nfu say they cant provide a quote without information on her non fault claim last year ...... the thing is the ONLY DIFFERENCE is she has changed her car to a mistral .......

sheila is 62 ( nearly 63 ) and her only blemish is a wonker ( deliberate missprint ) ran into the back of her last year ....... and he wasnt insured

Direct Line did this to me mate, but I managed to stick with them and get better quotes. Try putting you as the main driver, and her as the named driver....do it online....

but im allready the holder of a policy with them

try sureterm, mines £328 a year fully comp with them

for comparision purposes

1993 landrover ( sorry for swearing ) discovery tdi auto ...... valued at £1000.....£560 premium

1994 nissan mistral ............. £1050

Have you tried Saga?, I tried them, and mine came down to £245 a year and that's for a Maverick 93 TD:thumbs

ok , after a long protracted phone call to the insurance company, the reasons they gave for the increase in premium......

car has tinted windows to the rear which are counted as a modification

car has had rear seats removed , which also counts as a modification

car has had factory fitted a bar removed ..guess what ? ... which counts as a modification

if i remove the tinted rear film and replace the rear seats the premium will drop to around £790 per year.

fuffin stoopid innit ?

Direct Line is NOT the place to be with a truck like that. They are looking for solid, middle-class reliable business and will whack anyone/anything that isn't.

Adrian Flux would probably do a better deal than that frankly....all that 'mod' stuff is bollox. But (i) the fact it is an import doesn't help, and (ii) even though the accident wasn't her fault, as I've said before, the insurance companies automatically stick your risk up so your base premium increases, even if your percentage NCD remains the same.

pete try sureterm direct its is alot cheaper, i was getting qoutes like £1000 but i tried them and it was £440, with her age should be alot cheaper unless you have alot of car crime

Insurance

Anything over £300 is crazy, try NFU and tell them it is a bog standard Mistral,I think you may be surprised.I am in the same age bracket,T2 SWB and pay £272 pa.

The problem is, because she had a claim, even though it was not her fault, she will be classed as a high risk now! and it rockets up the price.
The down side is that is why she probabaly got hit by an un-insured driver cos he could not afford the insurance either.

You would of found that the Landrover would have gone up as well, even if you had kept it.

Try Sheila's Wheels:clap, even though I am the wrong gender I got fully comp for around £350, do have 9 years NCD, adrian flux was around a grand:eek:

thanks everybody for the advice , sheila removed the tinted film in a rage a few minutes ago , doesnt look to bad actually ,but ive advised her to wait untill shes calmed down a bit before phoning the insurance company :augie
