just had our notification of increase in premium ( its due for renewal at the end of the month )

premium has shot up

the reasons they give are ........

its a imported car

it doesnt have a thatcham approved security device fitted

some twunt ran into the side of me a few years ago and is refusing to admit liability , even though my insurance company is so confident , they have paid me out

so i have a 4 years ncb ... even though i have never had a own fault accident in almost 40 years driving

so it looks like i may have to get rid of a car.... or change to a vehicle that isnt imported and suits my needs ......been on compare sites and the quotes are very high

try sureterm m8 they did me a great price, was at just over £1000 now down to just over £300

Maggie is with Sureterm Pete best price she could get was with Saga before and they were miles cheaper, just looked it up and Maggie only has 1 years no claim, with breakdown cover £301.00,,,, I am with Nationwide, with road rescue? and never a claim £285.00,,,, Rick

Try Sheila's wheels they do blokes too mine was around £360 with 9 years NCD

sureterm ..... forget it .... same premium more or less

nfu ? ..... not much difference

few others wouldnt insure a imported car

i get loaded because of my medical condition , even though dvla have been notified , and i have no restrictions .... apart from driving a pcv :augie

best i found was halifax car insurance , who will insure both cars for the same premium that sheila is paying now ..... saving the cost of my policy :naughty

unfortunately , because she has to have class 1 business use its quite expensive ( £1500 for both cars fully comp ) , but at least it saves the cost of my premium

just out of interest ( not that id do it ) .... i wonder what the penalties apart from the points would be if i didnt have insurance ..... makes you wonder doesnt it ?

£200 fixed penalty, six points on your licence (so whacked up insurance premium when you do get some) and car towed away with recovery fee of £120 plus £18 a day storage.

Hardly worth it.

But with a truck thats worth tuppence why aren't you third party? That does away with the import thing because they'll never be paying for your damage?

might only be worth tuppence in your opinion ,but worth a lot more to me , actually the difference in premium between fc and tp is negil... nedg... nigd.... not a lot

insurance

Hi Briggie I am with adrian Flux £450 fully comp for two drivers and with Max no claims.

I was with Sure term and they went from 350 to 650 with the same bone excuse

Adrian Flux customer services are on 0844 888 5544

paulp

PS third party only was actually more expensive

the price i posted is for 2 cars ( both identical ) , with 2 drivers able to drive either car ... insured fully comp with class 1 business use on both

bad news Peter, but keep at it. i have found for years, that the difference between third party F+F and Fully cmp is nothing, in fact, often third f + f partyis dearer, have you tried JUST third party though?? that might be what Lacroupade meant...

Exactly what I meant.....and I also meant tuppence in relative terms. I mean whats it worth honestly....£1000 or less? Thats tuppence in car terms.....and the difference between £1000 for fully comp and say £300 for TP only would cover itself in less than 18 months.

Mine looks cheap now i phoned up to complain that it had gone from £160 to £200 fully comp

 whos that with?

I guess "Wenopayout" with limited mileage of 200 per year and a £75 000 compulsory excess ?????????

In all seriousness the writings been on the wall for increased premiums for years so it shouldnt really come as a shock, its a load of bollocks and unfair but certainly shouldn't be a surprise.

I fully agree with the comments suggesting Briggie goes 3rd party. Been there and done that. Only one that was involved in a bump and it was the ex wifes fault was a fiesta which was worth less than the excess on fully comp at the time :thumb2 throw it away and bring me another one old chap :D

No brainer :doh
