Trying to install an alarm into my Terrano. There's hundreds of wires and I've spent around 5 hours wiring it all in. The only thing thats stopping me finishing it off is the ignition.

I've looked in manuals and wiring diagrams on the net but can't find what wires need chopping into.

I've managed to find the starter motor wire and sorted that bit, I've also found the permanent live, but what are the other wires? Does anyone know? If you do what colour does what?

Cheers Mark

are you talking about the wires in the terrano .... or thr wires in the alarm ? :nenau

Terrano mate, need to know what colour does what so I can match up to alarm

somewhere in the electrical section it will show you the wiring diagram ....... good luck :thumb2

I've looked through that, I've found plenty of diagrams for it but I just can't make head nor tail of it. I'm trying to find "ACC" "STR" (which is starter and I've found that, "IG1" and "IG2" which is ignition 1 and 2, These are in the alarm installions but on the ignition it says ACC, 1, 2 and Start, which matches up to the alarm installion but I can't figure out what colour is what.

Think I've found what I needed but 1 little problem.

With in the alarm system there are wires to connect to the ignition wires.

It states:
Connect blue wire to ACC
Connect brown wire to ignition 1
Connect brown wire to ignition 2
Connect yellow wire to starter

But on the ignition barrel there is only (off, ACC, ON and Starter)

So would I connect both brown wires to ON, both brown wires come from the same relay.

without actually seeing it for myself its hard to say , i dont have a practical knowledge of the terrano wiring system ... are both brown wires fused ? .... it is possible that one goes to the off position , but without checking personally its hard to tell .

I've looked at that electrical manual before and got lost trying to find out what year its for, as my terrano has an built in alarm - but a problem in that the hazards flash to indicate the alarm has gone off but no siren.
Accoring to the manual it reckons its the alarm horm relay and it should be on the drivers side lower panel by the door ( looked but just cant see it !)

Has anyone managed to fix it or found the missing relay ?

Richard

hi, my alarm horn is inside the rear quarter panel.

re mover the little panel for the lights ( drivers side )
poke your arm in.. like a vet!
you should get to where the fuel pipe is , then bit more..

well thats where mine is, and theres a wire broken off it. i just cant get in there to fix it as its been broken off, not just pulled off.

NO I've had all the trim out from the boot area can find it !
If read the electrical manual it suggests that the factory alarm use the horn - hence the question about what model year is the electrical diagram for ?
