the modern way is a small derv heater built in to pre warm engine.i know my mates rover 75 has one.works a treat.

When I first left school I worked at a Volvo truck dealer and they had small bottles under the cab somewhere that got filled with methanol. what would that of been about, wonder if it was somekind of mix for the fuel. Yes I too remember the fires under fuel tanks on the news.

The bottle was factory fitted when the trucks were built.

We arent getting married are we:lol:lol

From what Ive been told and has been written on here running 100% veg oil in winter is not advised because it turns really thick.

Alex asked the question about warming the engine coolant would get over this, or thats how I read it. So that alone would not warm the fuel to thin it out. To warm the fuel from warm coolant surelly a heat exchanger would be needed.

100% veggie is not posable in winter....
unless

you keep fuel heated, heat exchanger fitted to keep the heat in the veggie oil, and never turn the engine off.

How far does the fuel filter travel before it combusts? My thought was running lazy ferrets idea, but with a wrap around style unit around the filter, this would keep the filter fuel at a good temperature, I'm not sure how long it takes for that fuel to reach the cylinders though, the initial start could be an issue as cold veg in the injectors ect... It may only be 15 seconds of rough running but still an issue...

On the other hand the coolant would circulate quickly.

Bit of catch 22 perhaps? :nenau

Methanol was for the brakes to stop the condensate water from freezing, yes winter Derve has additives to stop it waxing, but even with this it was common to need to warm the fuel with a fire, modern additives are a lot better, Rick
