I just couldn't hear it very well the right way up :D the speaker's on the bottom :doh
The troll is that wide if I turn that bugger over I'll need a hi-mac to get it back up again :lol

I take it you mounted it upside down for the next time you park it on the roof and need to see what channel your on to call for recovery?

That's why he uses channel 69, either way up it looks the same :lol

going to mount my little midland like big & daft,

its already sat there on a piece of the anti slip dash board sheet,

which does do what it says on packet, sits there like its glued
down.

will then run my cable for stinger on mag mount to back of car under
edge of centre cubby housing, under rugs/mats the sit loose in boot
til needed then stuck on roof.

JT surely best swr is going to be in centre of roof as largest area of
ground plane. seemed to work well on troll like that.

B&D what twig is that, looks like a good ol firestick.

erm

so whats the excitement about cb radios then are you lot all going out green laning and chatting from cab to cab to find out why the bloke at the front is stuck ? :lol:lol

Thomas-the-Terrano2 - Yep it's a Firestick, got it from 4x4CB the last one they had in stock. 5ft, pre-tuned - gave me an SWR of less than 1.4:1.
No one round here uses CBs though, so it's a bit of a moot point.

.

In the ideal world but I went for practical and got to say although I should have a lobe being at the rear corner I have not noticed anything and it's been there for 8 years.

I'll do some pics, is there a different way to posting pics other than Photo bucket.

Never uploaded pics before...

Any luck with the pics yet? Need to convince the wife that it won't look ugly when fitted!?:nenau

That looks pretty fine to me. Well done and thanks for sorting the pics. A definate job on the list for me :thumbs

This picture shows the side of the CB radio, where the Mike fits.

I drilled an 16mm (5/8 inch) diameter hole with a flat spade drill on the left hand side, dead centre vertically, but as close to the air vent as possible.

I removed the small collar (see it is still loose on the cable) and the plug goes in easily.
I also drilled 2x 7mm holes on the inside of the cubby hole to fix the CB using the 2x 6mm fixings on the side.

This picture shows the bracket I made using the upper bonnet fixing bolt, so no holes drilled in the body work..

Just need to work out how to put multiple pictures in one posting..:nenau
Now I need to look back at the threads that I wished I had posted pictures for...:doh
