can injectors be refurbished or re conditioned fairly cheaply , and does it do any good ? , obviously new injectors are gonna be way beyond my budget i guess .

my problems are thick black smoke on acceleration , this is despite my truck having had a service , ive tried changing the air filter again , and it helps a little ,

ive had the egr valves removed some time ago , and it did this before too

thanks in advance

yup

you take them out, or the garage does, and they get sent off. The nozzles and various internals are replaced/cleaned sonically i think, so essentially, they become as good as new for a fraction of the price of new ones. Now sure how much yours will be, but although it wont be cheap, it wont be any where near as much as new ones!

Had mine done in the t2 cost £40+vat each that was new nozzle and rebuild by a Bosch agent.

Likewise mine, £42 each plus VAT, also done by a Bosch agent (price included new coppper sealing washers and new bleed off washers)

But ur fitter didn't fit the heat shield washer when refitting. :nenau

did it take long to do ? , cant really afford to be without my legs ( truck ) for long

so around £175 for 4 injectors then ... will it improve my diabolical mpg ( approx 18 mpg  )

before you start talking about renewing/servicing injectors, have yours tested first, the number of times we tested injectors only to find them fault free, but still smoking, then found the fault elsewhere, pump, filters, blocked pinhole on fuel filter banjo (Perkins 6,345 engine) etc, Rick

hmmmmm ......wanna job rick mate ? :augie:naughty

Do not have an injector tester any more, but any injector service place will have one, take a couple of minutes to test one injector, prob take longer to get them out of the engine than to test, but if the test OK then put em back, if one tests bad replace it but leave the rest alone, Rick
