In an attempt to re build a set of injectors I purchased some dirt cheap Chinese nozzles to have a play with. Although these are supposed to be copies of the 252 the pintle diameter looks a little bigger and pop off pressure when tested is around 2900 PSI.

So, as this would then mean there is no way I can sand down the shims by the massive amount required to get them thin enough to drop the pressure by 1000 PSI, where can I buy shims at a reasonable price?

Or should I just take a hole punch to my feeler gauge and make my own?

I bought loads of dirt cheap shims of varying thicknesses when I did my cam followers, sure the name is on the bags, will have a look later, Rick

springfasteners,co.uk
example SW6121 12mm diam x 6mm hole x 1mm thick, Rick

I was playing with my injectors today and one was nearly 3k after fitting a new element, shim was 1.4 mm so removed it entirely, that brought the pressure down to just under 2k, Rick

Thanks for this and the source for the shims. I thought that removing the shim entirely would be required to get down to around 2000 PSI but wondered if spring contact on the injector body would be a problem. I might try a very thin punched bit of feeler gauge just as protection.
