Hi learned geeks :D
Does anyone know the crack pressure on the zexel injectors please ?

Took the injectors for a refit.
Crack pressure was awful best one at 90bar, worst at 60bar

Still to investigate the poor return flow from the pump. Got to look at diagrams too for the over pressure valve 🤣

Forgot Pete is yours Bosch or Zexel, I have a Bosh pump in the workshop, will be looking at it for the pressure regulating valve tomorrow, the one on my VE pump is in the form of a piston and spring captive it what is something like a banjo bolt with two O rings, Rick

Pete I found it today it is in the same place on both pumps, on the top at the very front OS you might need to remove the fuel inlet pipe to get at it, it has a round head with two flats 10mm open end spanner will do it if you have enough room to swing it, Easy on the one in the workshop but on my car I used a good 10mm end on with another spanner in the 12mm end, when I got mine out and tested the plunger it moved but was not good and free like the one in the workshop, to strip it you need to get the internal spring ring out, I used a 5mm modeling spanned to hook and prize it out then comes the piston followed by the spring, mine just needed a good clean and the motor runs better, not perfect but I will run it for a few days before I touch anything else, on yours is another control valve on the return, I have not looked at this in detail yet, too blooming cold, Rick

Thanks Rick, yes it's bloody perishing
I did a bit of digging around and think I know the bit you mean, see pic below.
I have the Zexel pump but believe it's essentially a Bosch VE copy.

Yes that is the beastie, easy when off the engine, Rick

Luckily I planned ahead and made an engine test bed :sly
It's proved a life saver already . Rad mounted, fuel tank and return, oil pressure gauge and ignition set up so far.

So not so awful to work on pump and timing .
That said, I will be taking the pump off again as I'm going to swap rotor heads with the old electric pump. It's 11mm vs this one at 10mm

Be interested in the results of the rotor head change, cannot say at this time I am fully compliant with what you are contemplating, but looking with interest anyway, Rick
