no idea my self buddy, but wanted to wish you look, its a big job. :thumb2

i would say solarman 216 is your man for advice

never had a pump of a 2.7 so far, don't forget Pete I run petrols, Adz however knows how to do it with detailed knowledge, I have good overall know how on diesels, but not specific to the 2.7 or the 2.7i, Rick

thanks for the best wishes .. not partially looking forward to it but has to be done:rolleyes:

regarding timing refer to the manual, in other respects remove as much stuff around the pump as you can to make working easier, it is when struggling to line up a difficult to get at injector pipe that dirt can be introduced, it will take a lot longer to remove and replace all these bits but is will be l a lot quicker than having to do the whole job again if you get something wrong because you could not get at it properly, and most important of all CLEANLINESS clean the whole area with engine cleaner and hose or better high pressure wash, as soon as you disconnect any fuel pipe, cover it, bits of plastic bag and rubber bands are good, or tips of rubber gloves as long as the diesel does not affect them, remember CLEANLINESS, the element of an injector is so finely engineered, that if you remove the pin and hold it in your hand and place the body on a metal vice for a few minutes then the pin will not go back in till the temperatures equalize, and the last very important tip, is CLEANLINESS, Rick

Rick, nice tips, but you forgot something? I think he needs to make sure he keeps the work area clean.:thumbs:clap

cheers for the tips time to break out the lab coat then:lol

Was it a successful? Mines got to undergo surgery pretty soon, any other tips/advice gleaned from your experience ?
Cheers
SHAUN.

Hi, mate, as has been said make it clean, i found lazzy bands and bits of plastic bag does the trick if you hav,nt got the plugs .first disconnect batt and remove then radiator and fan its easier with it out of the way[its only 4 bolts] then power steering pump then intercooler then take earths etc off inlet manifold then remove it, i just thought no need to remove p/steering pipes just put pump on batt tray. Remove front pump plate, its about 6 12mm bolts try to keep them in order of removal it saves time as they are diferant sizes. Next turn your engine to line up your crank timeing marks you,ll find these at about 11 ocklock on your eng cover. And 2 tiny nicks about 1 and a half inchs apart on pulley lineup first mark on pully[clockwise rotation] on engine cover. Then check pump gear you,ll find 2 numbers on one and one number on t,other[hope your eyes are good they,re tiny] i marked them with apin and some yellow paint. I undone the pipes at inj, 2 of the pump bolts are easy but your brake servo pump is right under the third, timbo used a cranked spanner to remove it i had to take the pump off. Oh and checkthe replacement pump keyway is in same position. No doubt the gang on here can fill in any gaps ive left[wish i could do that with my brain cells] good luck mate.
