ive had a fixed sally for 24 hours now , and my initial observations are as follows .

lovely car , loads of " toys " including electric folding chrome mirrors !!!!

crap stereo ( original imported one only picks up radio 2 lol )

smooth ride

im still working out the best setting for the a/t switch ( economy is crap )

i think ive worked out how to fold the seats lol

still trying to remember to put my foot on the footbrake before i can select drive ( caught me out a few times that one )

bit expensive on mpg , but then i havent totally got used to settings

nice and quiet when running ( except on power mode lol )

a lot easier to get in and out of than the disco

putting the choke on for 5 mins in the morning seems to help

car does not like sudden acceleration ( goes into power mode if you do )

worked out that using the wiper stalk to indicate isnt a good idea lol

beautifull looking car , get noticed a lot ( is that a good idea ? lol )

cant seem to work out how to turn the spotlights on the nudge bar on

our lass hates it which means she wont use it ! ( woo hoo )

aircon needs re gassing i think

starts first time all the time if you remember to wait for the glowplug light to go out :doh

all in all its a great car , im still getting used to it , ive drove many autos since my illness and this is certainly different but enjoyable.

well chuffed

my guess is there a switch!

dont you think ive tried pressing every switch by now to see what it does ? :lol:lol

hmm...i'm sure we can work out, could be a fuse has blown though who knows!

Briggie, just to repeat what I said elsewhere, the 'economy' mode is the correct one for normal operation.

You can use 'power' mode instead, but because that makes it change up at higher revs, i.e. 'holds' on to each gear for longer, its a lot less economical, and with fuel consumption in the 20s normally, you need all you can get. I'll say it again, this is a 100hp engine trying to pull a vehicle that weighs as much as a brick shithouse!

And the engine isn't going into 'power' mode when you accelerate hard - its just 'kickdown'. On an auto box, if you need to change down because the engine is struggling you just floor it... that drops the gearbox one cog - doesn't change the gearbox mode or anything like that and it changes back up again as soon as its able.

Hope that helps?!

It's a diesel.... they don't have chokes ;)

On my '96 TD (No. 'I' ) the 'choke' simply increases the RPM, which helps when the engine is cold. I find it useful for the first few kilometres but I push it in as soon as I'm on the move and don't need to stop at traffic lights. (There aren't any where I live!)

HOLD ON, I know what they mean, I used to have one on my old fourtrak, but it IS for cold starts....

when i put my foot down :augie the power light comes on on the a/t switch , then goes off after a few seconds

it is a choke, my L reg one had 1. for cold start, helps it run better

its not a physical 'choke' flap like a normally aspirated engine has...it does something at the fuel pump I believe - some older diesels had to advance the timing (in the pump) for cold start purposes. On later trucks the ECU takes care of it all....

choke

Mrs P hangs her hand bag from it LOL - ouch dont hit me!!!!

the switch for the spotlights are next to the AT switch. The headlights need to be on for the spots to work

This switch should sit in the middle in auto mode for normal use.

Briggie you are right if you give it some beans it will show as power mode.

WOOHOO beef curry for tea - sorry off thread I know:thumb2 :thumb2

hey dont have and misty and wonder why getting looked at, they automotive babes!
especially with all their extra flashy bits....

might only be 100 bhp and slush box but they can still motor and pull. the founder of
the nfmoc shark1e had one, pulled a 1500 kg 20 foot tin tent around no problems.

so are you gonna have a run over to squire's cafe next month, its on my to do list?

ok i found the switch for the spotlamps ..... nothing happens even when lights are on ... so something for me to investigate , might not have any bulbs in .. fuseblown.... but it looks like they used those stoopid bliddy scotchlock connectors , so perhaps those
