Is there any point fitting a 57i induction kit to a TD ? Selling the MAF as it's not doing anything, thought about replacing it with a cone type filter like a 57i, or an actual 57i if I get the money I want for the MAF.
Anyone know the diameter of the intake pipe ?

I dont think you can just take the MAF off and not have one, someone will be along to say if you can or carnt for certain, they run like bag of poop when its bust so sure it wont run right with it removed.
But you can fit K&N air ram kits, i have and lots of others have on here, personally i think it works well and sounds good too.

His maf no work as his pump is old skool mechanical and ecu out of the loop etc:rolleyes::rolleyes:

MAF wont be doing anything with a mechanical pump conversion...

A naked K&N sucking warm air from under bonnet area will be no better than a stock filter with the stock snorkel in the airbox.

yup, induction is only good if you have cold air, which is why most people with other cars extend the filter to the lowest part of the engine bay, where its open to the ground (and water!!), I used an inplace K&N instead.

So will it make any difference fitting one ? Bad or good. Is there any point ? Could it have an adverse effect ?

Or a bonnet scoop for cold air induction :sly That's what I did
I did a thread on it and there's pics on my photobucket link :thumb2

That's the plan, seen some cheap scoops on fleabag

Didn't read the reply about the cold air properly. :eek:ops

I fitted a K&N as direct replacement to the original, clearly less air resistance to the original
I haven't done the sums yet to see if I get more MPG
