Have you looked @ the wires where they are joined to the rear socket, they may have melted to the bodywork.
 
I overloaded the circuit with too many lights on a trailer and blew the fuse, now it is blowing by itself

Have you checked out the socket and the connection points into the original loom, I have seen some real crappy connections on these, and if a wire got a little hot before the fuse went it could now be shorting, just a thought, Rick

not so far paul, i have looked where the tow bar wires join the loom and I intend to disconect them tomorrow and try again, cheers for the idea.
 
When I had the carpets rolled back in the front passenger side foot well I noticed a couple of relays behind the panel where the bonnet release handle is.

When you get em fixed how about running a relay circuit connected to the 12n socket. A relay don't take as much juice as extra bulbs out of your indicator circuit. Come to think of it depends how many extra lights you have on the van but might be worth running relays for all the circuits to the 12n.

thanks for all the help and advice, Briggie i now know more about Terrano electrics than i did before and know where the timer control unit is and what it does :thumbs

Anyway I found and fixed the issue in two minutes flat this morning :eek:

audiable relay in rear quarter a the end of the tow bar cable it had melted inside. one of those new stye little black ones the size of a usb stick. crap design the wires stretched tight internaly over the diodes, diode got hot and melted the insulation hence making it pointless having a diode in there for short ciruit protection

anyhow i replaced it with a new, old stock, big square one, the internals are much beefier and the wires dont lie on any hot components!

I am thinking of adding a 10 amp fuse in the earh lead from this to add a little protection for the lot, rather than one in each output.
