It's within 300mm of a body mounting so needs welding otherwise it'll fail mot. We fixed a hole in same location on the project truck.

Also, if it's too close to a seat belt mount.

Clean up, rust converter, maybe use an old print cartridge syringe, leave it a while, do it again, and again, when converted, after it's all cured, then spatula in something like Chemical metal, build it up as it will slump, when cured, sand down then a quick coat of zinc spray will help.
Plenty of waxoyl into the area from underneath will help.

If there are any perforations in the local area, you will see an odd drop of water with a brown surface, this means the rust is more extensive, and the steel has perforated there too. Further investigation required.
If you can get to the other side, so much the better.
I guess some reinforcement will help, like mesh.
From my earlier days of Toyota ownership circa 1979 when cars wings rotted through in less than three years from new. Kurust and Plastic padding, or isopon in those days...

Thanks for advice and info guys, truck only has two seats left in now as I've stripped back out almost completely, I can get to the rust holes from underneath easy enough, and I've got the gear to do the job, up nice and early in the morning :D
Will be slower going than usual, the reason I even have time is because I'm off work with a poorly eye, corneal ulcer, a scratch and scar tissue and seven spots around cornea, so I'm having to do things slowly cos' I can't see properly :doh
I'm enjoying myself though, a bit of garage therapy :D :thumb2

To stop my mav from leaking I used non porous self adhesive foam strip, its about 25mm wide & 3mm thick, been on nearly a year now & no more leaks.
You can see in the circle a groove was worn into the paintwork, I ran the strip up one side along the top & down the other, then sealed the cover plate at the bottom seperately so I can still remove it with no problems, most seem to use mastik or the like, but can be messy.
