If it is NATS 2 and you have tried to start it more than 3 times with no transponder near the lock coil then you will be locked out permanently even if you had the correct key and transponder, it will need a computer to reset the immobiliser, I suspect the 4 wires you are mentioning in your PM are the 4 to the sensing coil around the ignition key, this is only the key sensor the immobiliser is under the dash to the left off the steering columb, and has 20 odd connections, Rick

What's the differences between NATS 1 and NATS 2? Also why does the maverick have Nissan's NATS when its sold as a ford?

Nats 1 was the early version and it was soon realised it could be bypassed, so NATS 2 was born and it can only be bypassed with a computer and the correct software, and it is still a NISSAN with a FORD badge, Rick

I thought nats 2 was the 2 button key type and nats 1 was the chipped key and seperate central locking remote:confused:

NATS 1 did not have blip remote locking as far as I am aware, but had chipped key, but has a work round, NATS 2 has a sychronization code with the ECU, something like last code received incremented by X so without knowing the last code and X you stand no chance, Rick

from the 30 ish terranos ive had i have seen 3 types of keys.Approx 1993-1995 no chip in key no immobiliser can be started with screwdriver 1995-1999 chipped key remote locking fob seperate this i thought was nats 1 1999 onwards chipped key with intergrated remote locking on the key this is refered to as nats2 when purchasing keys

Have to say I am confused, seems to me that square head light is NATS 1 Round headlight NATS 2 but could well be odds, whatever NATS 2 has the unit to the left of the column with 3 multipoint connectors with a large 2 on it, nats 1 did not support blip remote locking as far as I can see, Rick
