If noise in 5th then a major box problem, ie box out strip and repair, lots of pennies I am afraid, but does depend on what sort of driving you do, fo me for instance 90% of the time I cannot use 5th so would not bother me, but if you would be using it regular it is a gear that is under more stress than any of the others as it drives faster than the input shaft, so will be more likely to fail with a bang, Rick

Have you got any spare boxes Rick?

Well, once again God has vomited on my duvet

The 'new' truck has failed its MOT on the chassis frames needing welding, so I've run away screaming

Test-drove another promising one this evening, but their was a helluva rattly whine in 5th. Seemed to be coming from the transfer box (I could feel the vibration through the lever) The dealer's going to put it into a gearbox specialist tomorrow and get back to me. It was a decent driver apart from that. . . . . .

The quest continues . . . . :nenau

Rubbish news man. :(

Don't hate me . . . . ?

I've ended up buying an '06 Jeep Cherokee with 52k on the clock
