Lands End -> John O Groates with the longest train of 4x4 vehicles in history?

Everyone in? lol

actually as we are all up and down the country we could have 2 teams, one start at john o groats and one start at lands end, meet up in the middle and swap a flag or something

maybe a relay passing somehting along..

what like crabs or something,
on a serious note, adz had a cracking idea last year a relay run. but never really took off, i suppose the sponsorship for this would be the killer,
FOG frontera owners group had similar issues when they planned the longest line or biggest meeting of the same model of car at some race track a few years back
not sure if the beet the world record , i think they did... previously held by the mr2 owners club iirc

not many people would put there name to such a massive polution and enviromentally UNFRIENDLY event.
not may people would sponsor it due to the distace travelled by all the participents .

and of course everyone would have to provide the fuel for this themselves (not a good time for anyone) time and other commitments .
its a nice idea but realistically a non starter

we'd be better off all putting money in a fund as donations,
sponsor us to not attend might get a bigger sponsor

those of us that use veg oil wouldn't be a problem to the environment, infact that could be part of the selling point

ah but that wont work. yes you could say your not burning deisel. but your still making poisonus exhaust gasses.

and more importantly by comparason burning shit loads of clean air,

like i keep saying your burning 2.7 litres of clean air with every full revolution of the engine.
and even at 2,500 rpm (which is really slow and unrealistic for normal driving)

2,500 x 2.7 litres for per minuite . i bet rick could tell us more clearlly how much clean air these things burn.

but no one is going to like the findings

sponsorship is the killer in all this,

well ok maybe the big drive is out of the question but that was why i started the thread, for other ideas for things to do for fundraising :D

sponsor me for not telling a joke for a week ? :augie:lol

sponsorship is the killer in all this,

grow a tree, burn a tree, carbon neutral. SVO the same. Can't put out more CO2 than it took in....

explain !

explain what? If a plant grows it absorbs CO2, which is the main pollutant....but when its burnt it can't release any more than it absorbed. So if, for example, a tree grows and absorbs 10 tons of CO2, it will release the same amount when its burned - but the important point is that it releases that same amount when it rots, so why not burn it instead, hence 'carbon neutral'......

Fossil fuels sealed up the CO2 they absorbed tens of millions of years ago, so its gone from todays world - and when we burn diesel today we are putting extra CO2 back in the system.

SVO is roughly the same....you grow sunflowers, they absorb CO2, you make oil from the seeds, burn it and it puts its CO2 back into the environment - but only as much as it absorbed. There are a few chemical extras but nothing like the problems diesel or petrol create.

With it now?:)

sponsor me for not telling a joke for a week ? :augie:lol

all jokes to one side Pete, a few years ago, a local CB group arranged a communications chain to see if they could transmit around Britain, some of the knowledgeable members set up at the coast, and used the sea as a ground plain and they contacted other members, it was that good we even ham radio operators helping out were we couldn't reach some of more remote operators, just an idea and your just the man for the job. what do you reckon?,not a lot of expense involved. :thumbs

Just ask me for a donation lads. Its much quicker and easier LOL.

But seriously, its harder to raise other peoples interest for sponsorship when they are remote from the issue or geography....different for us cos Ricoh is one of us and we've seen the wee bairn. So why do a driving event when its just as easy (and quicker) to donate the diesel money instead? Just my thought.

One year I intend to cancel Xmas altogether and donate all the money, that I otherwise piss down the drain on unwanted gifts, to chariddy.:thumb2

well my thought about a driving event was also for a chance for everyone to get together :thumb2

I absolutely see your motive Ricoh; its great when the donor gets something out of it as well....I'm just thinking of time, especially in the current period and weather outlook...
