I think I’m getting soft:nenau

I went for a walk at lunchtime, great weather and I was relaxed as I’ve finished for a week off today. I walked back into our compound and saw a recovery truck with a 02 plate mini on the back, I half joking passed comment to the driver saying You haven’t brought that for them to chop up have you, he replied yes!
The mini looked great, nice and shiney bodywork very tidy. One of our members of staff got the Cat tractor with forks on the front and lifted it off the truck and placed it in the USAR yard which is on a slope. The poor mini then rolled into a Freelander that was all smashed up. The tractor then picked up the Freelander and placed it on the recovery truck. Meanwhile the poor mini rolled further down the hill into a railway carriage they have for training.
I felt so sorry for this mini, the driver said it had a blown head gasket and that was all that was wrong with it. It really looked in such good condition. In a few days that too will be loaded back onto the truck being replaced by another no doubt with its roof cut off. I look at my cars and the way I take care of them polishing and washing them to think that one day they’ll meet a similar demise.

Is it only me that thinks it is a sad waste.

You're the master of your own destiny Jim

Just don't let it happen!!!

Good answer oh wise one:lol

On the brightside Zac I was chatting to the BA Training guys this afternoon. Told them the smoke house was on my bucket list and the answer was no problem. They’re going to organise a full days BA Training in a few weeks for us or as they called it a full days playing in the smoke house. Can’t wait, I’ll try and get photos lol.

Jim,

You're so lucky man....great toys in work, and great opportunities........:thumb2

Cars are just machines, it is the great miracle of us mere mortals that is important....

You sound like my dad, he always said that breakers yards were such a sad place, and when I asked him why , he said that every car in there was once someone's pride and joy that thay chose and picked up brand new with a huge smile on their face.

Fully agree with you, Jim. That will not stop me from selling my T2 in the near future though - runs OK, and with some tlc and money spent on it I'm sure it will run another few years. But legislation, taxes and diesel prices here in Belgium make it all but impossible to keep it on the road...
